ARU have responded to the RUPA/VRU request and say they're willing to hold an EGM within seven days.

So judging on the 48-72 hours deadline, how long is this one going to go out by?

Correction to last tweet: ARU have responded to RUPA/VRU request by inviting voting members to meet in 7 days. An EGM would require 21 days.

2 The MRRU are not a voting member, therefore they can't do it
3 The VRU have put out the call, RUPA are just climbing on board to support it with their vote (Interesting that Tim North didn't call Malcom McCusker to see whether RugbyWA would vote)
4 RUPA have been pretty clear in supporting a 5 team model in this press release
5 I think it's all directed at the Rebels, because the media are sharpening knives for Melbourne now, not for us.

At the end of the day, it will take somebody to stand up and table a motion of no confidence, that will need to be seconded and then carried by the board. I reckon (since NSW - 3 votes, Qld - 3 votes and ACT - 2 votes are safe) that this motion will be defeated and then the tabling party and the seconder will be thrown out of the board. (ie WA and Vic) It will then take time for them to propose a replacement voting member and during that time, the votes will be either unused (or worse, proxied to one of the existing members)

I wouldn't be going that direction until I knew I had the numbers to carry it through.
It takes 75% of the 14 voting stakeholders to support any motion for it to be carried.

    NSW 3
    Qld 3
WA 2 but 1 is held by the Force which could used by the ARU not sure.

I am putting on a tin foil hat but all these groups were not coming out of the woodwork when it was the Force firmly in the gunsights.

........and didn't hear any of them worrying too much about mental health of the Force players.

To be fair RUPA were fairly vocal at the start about keeping the 5 teams.

...true. And the heat seems to be fairly much on the Rebels. Not taking any joy in any of this. But my disdain for the ARU can't get much deeper.

Love the fact that the RUPA statement is based around the notion that cutting a SR team will not actually deliver much in terms of financial savings, especially if they have to pay off Cox.

I came to the same conclusion after doing my analysis of the ARU's accounts. It's a bullshit argument from the ARU and I agree with RUPA that the real reason for any cull is to save face round the SANZAAR table.

The ARU's botched management of our game over the past decade or so may finally be laid bare for all to see. Fingers crossed!

It's cute that you think the tossers in charge of the ARU won't cover all their shit up.

More shredding going on in St Leonard's this week than at the height of Watergate you think GIGS?

I'd bet that's why they've been so invisible for the last 2 months. It's apparently poor form to conduct an interview with the media while stuffing entire filing cabinets into a woodchipper
