I loved watching him play for South Freo and Foot-a-scray back in the days when there was no Rugby of either code on TV. I thought, and said more that once, he would have made a good loosie if he had ever tried it. Tough but and pretty aggressive.

Maurice Rioli was a St Mary's (NTFL) boy as were all his brother's and cousins.
I went to school with most of them in Darwin. Was in the same year as Michael Long.

Brad Hardie - great footballer in the WAFL, I remember him and enjoyed watching him play - when I was six when South Fremantle won the premiership. First and foremost I like my Aussie rules, but I converted to rugby because I can get my aussie rules in perth anytime I like. Win lose or draw my bum will be on a seat at nib stadium because if people don't vote with their feet and go to the games- the game will be lost here in perth. I have had friends who don't get rugby or think it competes with AFL that say why do you bother? - they keep losing or even more blunt they say it will never work because they believe (wrongly) that AFL is the only sport in town. I usually reply with I love rugby and want it to stay. I have only missed 3 games due to things I could not avoid. If Brad Hardie is backing them then great. He wants what is best for WA even though he is deeply entrenched in AFL circles. I am not sure it will influence the outcome much, but in the same breathe it can't hurt! He is a mouth piece in the media and it can only help the cause to keep the club here which I am desperate to see happen. The ARU are the flogs not Brad.
