I'm surprised by some selections as this will be a game we can certainly win but id say some of his selections are looking towards next week. I mean we have to go from Argentina back to Perth. A huge trip and he will be wanting to rest some key players for the highlanders.

Just out of curiosity havent seen or heard anything about scobbles all season - thought he might of got the nod ahead of the reserve hooker??

    From Hodgo's FB feed

Good luck to the 23 for this weekend's game in Argentina. It's an exciting place to play & a great opportunity for many of the young members in the squad.

Tatafu & I thought we'd just do a lap of the globe to help the team train. We are physically fine (not injured) & are just being rested. We are already heading home having left yesterday morning. Looking forward to watching the game & being fresher for the next two games after a weekend off.

So don't worry mum. I'm fine. A face full of stitches (no concussion) never stopped me before. Lucky I'm married. Taf is single so he better take better care of himself.

This resting rotation selection thing erks me no end when quite a few only manage 50 to 60 minutes play time anyway.
At a time when we need to prove our worth in the competition this team selected seems way off the mark from our best available
Injuries?? its one area the the club could do a lot better at and that is keep members and supporters up to date with the state of players injury status the AFL do it well through their websites, I have sent more than one emeil about this over the years and sadly I havent even got a single reply back
Anyhow try hard boys and good luck

A bit harsh Scot, we already have a lot of injuries and the rest is not a bad thing for the boys who will be nice and fresh for our next home game against the Highlanders. I do agree that the club should be a bit more open regarding injuries to the players.

Bloody big forward pack, hopefully it translates to more gainline success and more front foot ball for Lance and Meakes to work with. Last week was a bit of a letdown with 2 soft tries after the yellow card and an intercept try blowing out the score. Hopefully our wingers get to see some ball out wide this week as the timing of when to come in looking for work vs holding width was off with a couple of overlaps ending with Ross Haylett-Petty and Tessman not able to to give to the wingers late in the game vs the Shorks.

Sorry I agree with Scot, resting players is a f-cling joke when our future is on the line and every result is being scrutinized.

We are not the all blacks we don't have the depth to rest 2 of our best players especially when 2 of our only other 2 best players (DHP and McCalman) are out.

If a professional rugby player can't handle playing what 17 games in a year then they should retire. Not to mention we already get 2 byes and a mid season break.

Sheez.. tough crowd. Let's have a bit of faith in Wessels. If it doesn't come off, then you can bitch.

Wessels does it again. Constantly thinking. I think the only ones a bit hard done by are Stander, Naisarani and Verity Amm. Fair enough for Hodgo and TPN to get a rest - they are old buggers, and I have been waiting to see Rangi get a run.

I suspect he sees the Argies as the best set piece side in the forwards, and will look to grind it out. Hard to win down there, as the Wallabies will attest.

Van Wyk rewarded for a great week last week.

No point touring if you don't get a run....!!

I think this strategy was probably planned before round 1 (actual names selected based upon injury status) to cater for the phishing travel schedule.

IF it was planned from Round 1 then why did TPN & Hodgo fly with the squad to Argentina (leaving Durban at 5 am Sunday morning - without a recovery day), to get delayed 5 hrs on the way to Argentina only to return to Perth BEFORE the Captains run?

    > 2 days of air travel that the old bulls didn't need after a tough game against the Sharks (and no recovery day after the last home game!).

The Force is 2 from 9 (with only 1 BP) - it's not time to try out players who are in the 23 ONLY because of the long injury list.

No specialist OSF in the 23 and 3rd string Hooker against a strong Forward Pack!!

Why wouldn't we be playing the best available players (even off the bench) to give the win our best shot???

Yes Hodgo has had some big contact numbers over the past weeks but TPN had only 11 Ruck Involvements & 4 Tackles against the Sharks.

Seems like a decision on the run to me........

Teams that are 8 from 9 can afford to rest players not a team that is 2 from 9.

Guys remember this we've only scored 4 times in the last 3 games. Maybe it's time to change up the side and get out of the same historical attack that we've seemed to gravitate back to from previous years. Don 't get me wrong I think Hodgo is a great player but we did win twice in the first part of the year without those fellas starting.

Agree with most of your comments however I think Hardwick is a 7 but is playing at 8 because he is a safer pair of hands of the back of the scrum. In regards to hooker I can't understand why TPN the best scrummaging hooker isn't playing against a team that love to scrum.
