Western Force coach Dave Wessels has an interesting analogy on the future of his injury ravaged Super Rugby side.
They have won just two matches but five of their six losses, including last Saturday night's 24-15 defeat by the Lions at nib Stadium, have been by nine points or less, and Wessels is confident in his young squad.
"It's like making a Samurai sword," Wessels said.
"You start with raw steel and you need to go through a few beatings before it becomes a beautiful Samurai sword.
"That's they way I feel. These difficult times, although they are uncomfortable, are actually very good for us.
"My frustration is not with the players, it is that I want them to get reward.
"We need a few wins to give us confidence but we are not that far away."
Wessels had every available fit player - and even a couple in doubt - on the plane to South Africa last night for the first leg of their two game tour against the Sharks in Durban on Saturday night.
Prop Ben Daley, who suffered a knee injury on Saturday night, is expected to miss the rest of the season.
