Finally someone in the media is talking about the fact that cutting a team is putting Japan, Argentina before Australia.

Argentina are a part of SANZAAR these days so it wouldn't be the ARU putting Argentina first.

Having said that, the fact that the Sunwolves have never been not even come up in discussions about culling sides is astsounding.

For what its worth - I think that there is a way to show support for the Force, and for the game of Rugby without having to resort to protesting.

I think that if we begin to bad mouth the ARU and especially if we bad mouth other teams. We lose a lot of the support we have in the east that wish for us to be retained. That would be a huge mistake.

In 2006 we won with people power - the crowd that spelt out Super 12 for WA. in 2017 we can do it again.

We get bums on seats, we purchase merchandise. We fill nib stadium. Even if they announce we are out - Its even more reasons why we show how strong the Sea of Blue is. The fight isnt over until the Court Cases are done. Invite friends to matches, Invite family. Invite the neighbors. If they are sports fans they will get to experience something new.

We have to try and keep it positive. That is the key. In my very humble opinion.

So, if it is announced we are cut, can the players just strike for the rest of the season? Bugger the CBA, it doesn't stop unions striking worksites.

I take your point Ex, but I'm not bad mouthing the ARU as I would not do that as it debases the message (and me). My signs say "Don't FORCE us out ARU" and "May the FORCE be with us. Always". I don't think I will do any harm with those heartfelt pleas.

The answer is money. Cold hard cash a-plenty in Japanese rugby. Much easier for the hard-work-averse ARU to just help themselves to that rather than try and grow the game here.

That’s not to say there won’t still be massive ramifications. If the ARU — the ARU, mind you, not SANZAAR — choose to cut the Western Force, rugby union is dead in Western Australia. This is the nuclear option. Nothing will ever grow there again, in rugby terms. It will become a wasteland and, frankly, if the ARU decides to cast the West adrift, it might as well go all the way and reallocate the 2019 Bledisloe Cup because Perth would surely turn its back on it.
The ARU has never publicly stated its preference for five teams or four.

This is about the most important decision Australian rugby will ever make and yet it has left itself in the hands of other countries, forces entirely beyond its control, before it can make it.

If the answer is to jettison the Force, the rugby public will view it as having put foreign interests ahead of Australia’s. When it is asked why the Force are going when the Sunwolves and Jaguares survive, how will the ARU possibly answer?
ok legal action against the ARU and SANZAAR for damage to their brand. And, make no mistake, brands have been damaged.

Where, one wonders, does all this leave Pulver and the board? It’s a simple choice.

They are either the villains who axed the Western Force or the ones who played the harp while Rome burned.

    Take your pick.[/QUOTE]

    Well said Wayne Smith

Just been reminding myself of the ARU's launch of the 5-year strategic plan in April last year. A couple of quotes, including one from The Pulveriser", stick out like sore thumbs:

“We believe there is a place in our game for all Australians.” - ARU CEO Bill Pulver.

"Australian Rugby Union (ARU) today announced the Australian Rugby Strategic Plan for 2016-2020 underpinned by a vision “to inspire all Australians to enjoy our great global game”.

Wish we could remind every single board member of this before they meet tomorrow to wield their bloody axe.

If all the press reports are accurate it bloody well is the friggin' AR-frggin'-U. They have a veto and didn't plan to use it. That is putting the jags and japs before Australia plain and simple.

I reckon the only hope is (1) that Wayne Smith is just guessing their intentions at tomorrows meeting, (2) that the ARU has had an 11th hour epiphany and (3), they are going to use the SARU/SANZAAR filibustering as an opportunity to change course.

Can we get a banner of that? Might need a few more people to hold it up tho.
