Post Emirates Western Force Launch 2007 Membership Renewals

The Emirates Western Force has launched its 2007 membership renewal packages, following on from the success of the inaugural membership drive which saw the club enter the 2006 season with a record 21,000 members.

Along with the highest membership base of the four Australian provinces, the WA club drew an average crowd of 28,424 for its home games at Subiaco Oval in 2006, the fourth highest in the competition.

With a strong off-season under the belt and the recruitment of star players such as Matt Giteau, Drew Mitchell and Ryan Cross the team is poised to shine in 2007.

RugbyWA Chief Executive Peter O’Meara said it was an exciting time for the club, and that the coming season would be one to remember for WA rugby fans.

“The Emirates Western Force had great success off the field in 2006, and we are looking to build on that platform,” O’Meara said.

“On the field we have yet to register our first home victory, which will be an unforgettable occasion for rugby in this State. With Matt Giteau, Drew Mitchell, Ryan Cross and Troy Takiari joining the team, we are very excited about our chances of success in the 2007 season.”

Gold, Silver, Nickel and Iron memberships offer guaranteed seating for every home game, access to post and pre-match hospitality, exclusive merchandise offers and an opportunity to meet the players. Prices for 2007 range from $110 to $335 for juniors and $180 to $410 for adults.

Membership renewal packs will be sent to existing Emirates Western Force members throughout August. These fans will have first priority in renewing their involvement, but more than 600 rugby enthusiasts have put their names on the expression of interest list for new membership in 2007.

New memberships will become available to the general public from the end of September, at the completion of the members’ renewal period.

    Move the bloody hoarding!

I had Gold tickets this season in a group of 8. Most of those are not renewing their memberships this year, though they will go to many if not all of the games. They couldn't see the point in paying top dollar for seats with an obstructed view. We are on the South side about row Q and we can't see the sideline on our side or several metres onto the pitch. I am not sure if we can even see the 5 metre line. The reason for this is the advertising hoarding which runs alonside the pitch. I have complained (twice) but Western Force just don't care. The technology exists for Foxtel to use a 'virtual hoarding' without having a physical one blocking the view. Or they could just move it back a few metres.

Those not renewing know that there will always be room at Subi for blow-ins, and the cheaper seats they buy won't have any worse a view than the Gold seats, and if for any reason they can't get to a game they don't have to pay.

Being a very sad case I will be renewing, but note that we are the most expensive of the Australian clubs (particularly compared to the Brumbies) and notice also that some of the other teams include entry to scratch matches and other games in their (cheaper) memberships.

I think The Force need to start thinking about their fans.
