Handling errors and some decision making cost us that one.
Good to see them trying some new things and keeping the ball moving. But defensive lapses are costing us games. Multiple tries in quick succession leave us too much to do at the end of the game.

    Yellow cards don't help either.

First thoughts..we've gotta stop having brain farts - that's two games where we were in a commanding position in the game, one player has a brain fart, we're down to 14 men and pftt.. we never recover.

Some positives to take away, some nice offloading a few good runs, just gotta get the skills up so more of them stick and don't give away momentum destroying scrums. I reckon Brache has run more metres with the ball this year than in all the other years he's been with the force.

Frustrating, but at the same time I'm starting to like the way they are trying to play.

Like the Brumbies game, one we could have taken the points for.

blues made the most of their 1 man advantage and scored 12 while naisarani was off. Hope the boys can take some confidence from that and come home and commit regicide.

I think the backs will owe the forwards a few cartons tonight. The forwards were up for and certainly made a few opportunities but the backs couldn't finish or took the wrong option. We really need to work on running support lines because so many breaks were shut down with the wrong support line or choice.

But cannot fault their effort and attitude for the whole 80. They are playing like a team that enjoys being together.

I think Dazio has hit the nail on the head! I was only commenting the other day that the Force are playing as a team where the other Aussie teams are playing as 15 individuals!
The boys are playing with a belief and they are playing for the full 80. Wins are just around the corner and hopefully the first will be next week.

Have just watched the 2st half again to collect my ruck stats.
Force was up B0:8F at 22 mins. Up until then Force had:71% Possession; 74% Territory and had spent >4 mins in Blues 22.
Blues had only 30 secs in Force 22.
ISI gets YC at 28 mins.
Force is doing a great job defending with 14 but Blues stepped up (as NZ teams do!)

Overall I thought Shuhei Kubo did a fair job of reffing this game, BUT........

At 32 mins. Billy Meakes gets penalised for standing up and getting the ball after he was the tackler.
The Penalty was because he "was beaten by the cleanout".
By my observation Kaino runs through the not yet established ruck and tackles Richie Arnold who is still 1.5m away from the tackled player.
How can this be called a cleanout?
Surely this should have been a fair turn over won to Billy Meakes.

This changed the Force's momentum. The rolling maul try at 34 mins directly resulted from this penalty against Meakes.

At 36 mins. As pointed out by Shasta, Blues No 1 Paulasi Manu comes in from the side of the ruck and prevents Ruru from making quick ball. Referee yells "No, No, No" and No 1 backs away with his hands in the air (a clear indication of guilt by any Forward).
Surely this too should have been a penalty to the Force??

Again a shift in momentum resulting in a good Blues try at 37 minutes.

Isi Naisarani was back on the field at 39 minutes.

I like a lot of Naisarani's work but his lack of discipline with 2 YC in NZ have been very costly for the Force.
(I reckon he was very lucky not to cop a Yellow Card (which would have become a Red Card) for his kneck-roll cleanout on Kaino at 40:19).

Some comments re players efforts in 1st half:
    • Richie Arnold had a great 1st half (equal 3rd highest Ruck Involvements with RHP)
    • Ben Daley showed a lot of effort around the rucks (2nd highest RIs in 1st half).
    • Matt Hodgson highest RIs in 1st half

    Other observations:
Numerous incidents of Blues players impeding Force players by tugging jerseys. Not one called all game.
Numerous incidents of high tackles or neck-roll cleanourts. Not one called all game. (Most by Blues players).

Ruck Involvements - Blues v Force

    Remember:
    1. Early means 1st or 2nd of player’s team AFTER the ball carrier has been tackled and brought to ground.
    2. Impact means active engagement: strong physical contact, changed shape of ruck, clean-out, protecting ball etc. (more than hand on someone’s bum or arriving after the hard work has been done). Yes it’s subjective - but as I collect all data at least it’s consistent.
    3. Impact DOES NOT equate to Effectiveness. I’ve concluded that coming up with an effectiveness measure is just too hard in the time that I have available – but open to suggestions.

Very pleasing to see the Force up their breakdown involvement/work rate against the Blues and maintain their workrate in the 2nd half.
Total Ruck Involvements 337 (Attack 273; Defence 64)
Average of prev 4 games: Total 222 (Attack 170; Defence 52)

Matt Hodgson back to his normal workrate (2016 Average: 37T - 27A/10D).
    Impressive rucking effort byRoss H-P.
Very good rucking efforts by Isi N, Ben D & Richie A.
Strong contributions off the bench by Richard H & Pek C - especially on D Rucks.

    Best efforts by Backs:
    Billy M - 16T - 8A/8D**
    Marcel B - 15T - 12A/3D
    Alex N - 13T - 13A/0D
    Dane H-P - 11A/2D
    Michael R - 10T - 7A/3D
    Jonno L - 10T - 10A/0D

Force stood off only 33% of D Rucks (cf 60% against the Crusaders.)
When involved in D Rucks - 81% with only a single player after the tackler.

Blues data and comparisons to follow.

I saw this in one of the later games, where 1 player was holding another players jersey and ran around behind him for 10 metres pulling the jersey. Nothing.

Does anyone know what happen to Koteka? He was listed even by the announcers at the start of the game but then Heath came in at the end to play flanker.

Was it concussion protocol? He was under a cloud when he came off last week.
