Perhaps someone will want their money back

    • WA Government funding for 2019 Bledisloe Cup in Perth - $5 million?
    • WA Government funding for nib Stadium upgrade - $95 million (50:50 split between Rugby WA and Perth Glory?)
    • WA Government funding for new Rugby WA headquarters - $10 million

    This may get interesting.

The Bledisloe Cup in 2019 could be a complete blackout if we loose the Force as I won't go as my protest

Someone in the ARU and media needs a very large uppercut, is this another Georgy Robinson snail trail of fake news or is the Fox muppet team looking for a subject apart from the Tahs for the show? I notice that all this crap has a history of coming out whenever the guys are overseas trying to concentrate on their game.

I was a little uneasy when the new RugbyWA website was released. Conspiracy hat on now. Was this to distance themselves from the Force further as they knew they were getting the chop so it would smooth transition?

One a side note, if we get the chop it was made ever more easier when we sold the IP rights to the ARU. Why did we do that instead of starting the ownership scheme which seemed to come out directly after the rights were purchased?

    Well here's Georgina Robinson...

    http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/un...27-gv7pty.html

The Western Force say they are in the dark about reports they will be axed from Super Rugby should the competition partners agree to move to a 15-team model.

News Ltd newspapers published reports on Monday night stating the West Australian franchise would be culled should the four SANZAAR unions convince their respective broadcasters that a reduction from 18 to 15 teams is the way to go for Super Rugby's future.

The Western Force are reportedly the team set to be axed should SANZAAR announce a 15-team future for Super Rugby

The ARU would not comment on the matter, while Force chief executive Mark Sinderberry said neither he nor the Force board had received any correspondence, official or otherwise, regarding the club's future.

"There's nothing to say, we haven't been given any further information and we remain positive about the future of the Western Force," Sinderberry said.

The Force later issued a statement reiterating their position.

"Under no circumstances do we believe today's speculation around the future of the Road Safety Western Force to be true," the franchise said in the statement. "Two and half weeks ago, through a national phone link-up all clubs were told that the ARU through the governing body, SANZAAR, was investigating a number of issues and those issues had to be resolved prior to a decision being made to reduce any of the Australian franchises.

"There has been no further contact from the Australian Rugby Union to any of the Western Force players or staff, so at this time there is no further comment on the matter until substantiated facts are put forward."

Fairfax Media understands the SANZAAR partners agreed to a 15 team model with one fewer Australian team and two fewer South African teams at a meeting in London earlier this month, but that final approval would not come until the board of SA Rugby meet to vote on an outcome next week.

Further, Fairfax Media understands the ARU has briefed the Super Rugby clubs that any decision on which team would be culled would be worked through after SANZAAR makes an official announcement.

It is highly likely the ARU has recommendations prepared on which team that should be, but the Force, the Brumbies and the Rebels are all understood to be in the dark about what those might be.

Sources have suggested that Australian broadcaster Fox Sports favours a model without the Western Force over losing a team in Canberra or Melbourne. Chief executive Patrick Delany could not be reached for comment on Monday.

Each of the SANZAAR member unions have spent the past two weeks consulting broadcasters and other stakeholders about the preferred 15-team model.

MASSIVE BEAT UP - SHOCKING JOURNALISTIC FAIL

These reports today are a great case of very bad sub-editing.

There is ZERO chance of the Force being culled, given the likelihood of ANY AU side being culled is a very long stretch.

The articles correctly point out that SA would be required to cull two of their own, plus ARG & JAP would have to go. The SANZAAR is a voting body. Neither NZ nor AU are going to vote on culling and AU franchise without SA chopping one of their own first and the likelihood of that happening.....?

Even if the impossible happens, would it be the Force? To even consider that would be the definition of stupid. The Force, like all other AU franchises have bled $. No news there. They have also struggled to make an impact on the comp. Again no news. However that would not be the measure when deciding a possible cull.

The Force, unlike their rest of their AU counterparts have and are maintaining good crowd numbers. When compared to the Rebels & Brumbies - there is no comparrison.

IF, and it's a HUGE if, an AU franchise goes, it will either be the Rebels or possible a merger of the Rebels & Brumbies.

The Rebels have lost 6-7 times what the Force have, can't give tickets away, and are based on the east coast - an unfavoured spot by SA & NZ when comparing WA due to travel.

It won't happen, but if hell freezes over, they put the gun to the Rebels and quietly put them down without a whimper, no one in Vic or NSW and QLD will care.

The ARU, like most sporting bodies make questionable decision, but as much as people like to smash them, their not a collection of morons.

New RWA site is / was unrelated. It was to separate the two platforms and give community their own space as the combined site had to be managed together. Means community can now better inform, publish and promote.

Understand it had been in consideration for a very long time. The ARU managing the Force likely helped push it forward.

I guess we'll know on Monday! I personally think you're being very generous and unfortunately will be proven wrong next week! If the Force go then so should Pulver and the ARU Board! Rugby has only gone backwards under this administration. If they wanted to make all the teams sustainable they'd bring in a draft! However they're only really focused on NSW and QLD!

Well that's going to save me a shipload of money every year.

    No force membership
    No force merchandise
    No foxtel
    No wallabies tickets
    No wallabies merchandise

No money wasted on rugby ever.

I would turn my back on the whole sordid mess and start to follow a sport with some integrity.

Does anybody know anything about the netball?

I think Tonkar has come up with the way to go if the Force are dropped! I've never really followed league but it's certainly an option especially if they get a WA team. Hope it doesn't come to that though.
