Well done Alison and everyone else who has been hitting the keyboard for the last week ( I am doing likewise) - please keep up the email barrage to the ARU and WA pollies, it seems to be our only hope!

I have done similar but used the argument of lost future revenue in terms of tourist dollars and jobs.

Although it is not huge every bit of revenue into our state and every job, whether casual or not, will make a difference.

    Melbourne Rebels reaction

In response to today’s announcement by the Australian Rugby Union (ARU), below is a statement from the Melbourne Rebels:

It’s business as usual for the Melbourne Rebels despite this morning’s announcement by the ARU.

While disappointed by the prolonged decision-making process, the club is solely focused on Saturday night’s Australian derby against the Brumbies at AAMI Park.

The club is increasingly frustrated by the impact this process has had on Rebels players, staff, members, fans and partners and the club wishes the management of the issue had been better handled by SANZAAR or the ARU.

yes but why? is that because they know they're not going to go or because Cox is happy to be rid of them?

IMHO the difference between a businessman and a community. Cox would have already come up with a number beyond which he couldn't give two lazy f@$ks what they do. That number will factor in likely compensation, the cost of running the team vs benefits. It will be a cold, profit/loss issue for him. For us, it doesn't matter what the cost, they will have to drag us out of SANZaAR kicking and screaming, losing an entire states goodwill and being badmouthed and vilified for all of time. It would be good for the wildcats though. I'm considering a membership of the red army if the ARU give us the arse

OK. I think I'd probably go with watching the Australian Paint Drying Championships ahead of basketball, though. If I had to choose between the two.

Would be useful to be able to see how much has been raised by own the force as some kind of motivator? Any big business out there? Show us the money . Come on
