    Spirit players head East

Hey lads, there may be a better place than here (and it may have been reported elsewhere) but someone over at GAGR posted about some Spirit lads moving to Brisbane to play club rugby.

Laione Mulikihaamea, AJ Alatimu, Eric Vasukicacau and Maalonga Konelio are all at the one club, GPS, apparently. Also Hadleigh May was rumoured to be joining them, but that's not confirmed.

Hot on the heels of Brad Lacey (who I think Stiles somewhat recruited over?) it's a bit of concern. These were all excellent players for the Spirit.

Its a blow for WA Rugby it would seem. Any word from over there as to why they moved? QLD Premier Rugby clubs usually don't pay for players (although there are always whispers to the contrary). At least not to the extent of Sydney clubs.

I could imagine most of those lads getting a gig with our NRC teams. Laione could push for a Reds squad spot next year too (based on what I saw of the NRC).

I know most were gutted on this site about Brad Lacey, but if he was recruited to a better deal for himself than the Force could offer I guess we ended up being philosophical about it.

Many around these parts thought he deserved more game time than he got.

You'd have to talk to those in the know about club rugby for info about the others, but there were some rumours flying around this site about a herd of WA cattle moving to GPS. Don't know if it was anything shady.

I'm sure you'll find the answers here if the people in the know are willing to tell.

Maybe the boys really respected him and thought it would be better for their future in the sport.

Two Brisbane sides in the NRC could have seen some of them move over?

Like GIGS said, perhaps they saw it as a good move for their Rugby Careers.

Are of those guys still on Spirit contracts for this season, or do they automatically get aligned to the Qld NRC teams once they move to a Brisbane Premier club?
