    30+ in game 2010 - 2016

    2010 - Highlanders (win) & Lions (win)
    2011 - Crusaders (lost)
    2012 - Reds (win) & Rebels (lost)
    2013 - none
2014 - Rebels (won), Highlanders (won), Reds (won)
    2015 - none
    2016 - Sunwolves (won)

If the mark was 27 points you could almost triple those results.

Interesting though, about 80% of our oppositions did not score 30 against us either over thos years.

Thanks for taking the time to do the analysis. Not asking you to any more but the pre 2010 stats might also tell a story , someone may have access to these. Even with Giteau & co in the side I can't recall the Force ticking the score board over much.

You get the impression that other teams (at least all the kiwi teams) are scoring lots of points each week win, lose or draw and the Force is focussed on defence. Maybe we just haven't had the cattle but I suspect its part of the team mindset as well. The Force always play a fast moving, exciting brand of rugby in the last 5 minutes when they have nothing to lose. Pity they don't start games with this approach.

2006: First year in existence. Only scored 30+ once (34-34 draw with the Cats) and were beaten by teams scoring 30 or more 4 times (Tahs, Bulls, Blues, Sharks)

2007: We scored 30 or more 4 times (3 wins - Bulls, Reds, Cheetahs and 1 loss - 36-64 to the Chiefs). We were beaten by a side scoring 30 or more 3 times (Crusaders, Chiefs and Blues)

2008: Beat the Highlanders 36-28 and lost to the Stormers 32-16.

2009: 3 wins (Reds, Lions, Highlanders) and 2 losses (Chiefs, Bulls)

In those early years we weren't over-run by sides (often), and for 2007-2009 scored 30 or more often than we had 30 scored against us.

I also looked at the overall scoring for each season for the Force. The table below gives: year, points for, points against, points differential, position of points for, position of points against

    2006; 223; 373; -150; 13th (of 14); 13th
    2007; 276; 292; -16; 6th; 8th
    2008; 247; 278; -31; 13th; 7th
    2009; 328; 275; +45; 5th; 8th
    2010; 258; 364; -106; 14th; 10th
    2011; 333; 416; -83; 10th (of 15); 11th
    2012; 306; 440; -134; 15th; 12th
    2013; 267; 366; -99; 15th; 10th
    2014; 343; 393; -50; 14th; 9th
    2015; 245; 384; -139; 15th; 10th
    2016; 260; 441; -181; 18th (of 18); 14th

What this shows is that we've only had a positive points differential once (2009). During the 'glory years' (2007-2009) our defence was average and for 2007 & 2009 the attack almost good enough for the playoffs.
More recently, the attack has been abysmal while the defence has been a little below average.
2016 was a nadir, as I think we'd all agree, with a worse points differential than the debut side.

    Interesting stats, thanks guys.
I think more telling though is the possession and position stats, that we and the Wallabies seem to regularly top but not end up with the win! Frustrating for fans and players. We just have to start finishing off those plays instead of coughing up the ball or giving away another stupid but predictable penalty!

Thanks. Some food for thought there and a good discussion point.
