    Morahan Called Up for Barbarians

By Fraser Smith on Fri 28th October 16

Western Force speedster Luke Morahan will add one of rugby's most historic teams to his resume after being called into the Barbarians' squad to face South Africa, the Czech Republic and Fiji next month, the invitational club announced Thursday.

Morahan links up with the Barbairans in ripping form after scoring six tries in six games with the Perth Spirit in the Buildcorp National Rugby Championship including a spectacular long range effort in the Grand Final will be joined by fellow Australians Sam Carter, Paddy Ryan and Toby Smith, Andrew Ready and Rebels scrum-half Nic Stirzaker.

Western Force wing Morahan, ACT Brumbies lock Carter, Melbourne Rebels prop Smith and NSW Waratahs prop Ryan will join a squad coached by former Wallaby boss Robbie Deans ahead of the Barbarians' Killik Cup match against the Springboks at London's Wembley Stadium on November 5.

Deans is being assisted by England World Cup-winning centre Will Greenwood.

There will be plenty of talented New Zealanders available to the Barbarians as well, with Canterbury Crusaders centre Seta Tamanivalu -- who won his first three All Blacks caps earlier this year -- and Auckland Blues speedster Melani Nanai also included.

The Barbarians, now 125-years-old, will be playing South Africa for the eighth time since 1952 and they now lead the Springboks 4-3 following wins in 2007 and 2010.

Six years ago the Barbarians -- rugby union's most celebrated invitational team -- beat South Africa 26-20 in a match where Australia's Drew Mitchell (two), James O'Connor and Italy's Quintin Geldenhuys all scored tries.

BaaBaas able to pick on form better than the Wallabies methinks.

Could have taken Gordon rather than Stirzaker, Hardwick or Figg, Kellaway and Dempsey are busy, so they can't go, but there are plenty of other options not playing for the Wallabies who would do awesomely in that environment.
