The Mighty Mighty Men of HAC Rugby traveled to Merrylands RSL Rugby Park to participate in three out of the 4 Grand Finals in the 3rd Division Sydney Suburban Rugby Competition.
A cool day with Fourth grade kicking off at 10.30am saw HAC Rugby take on Beecroft, with Beecroft coming out winners 17 - 10
Third Grade saw Oatley defeat Beecroft 17 - 14
Second Grade: Those magnificent men from HAC defeated Beecroft 30 - 27
First Grade The Mighty Warriors of HAC defeated Brothers 18 - 6. It was 6 all at half time and was 6 all with 5 minutes to go.
I must admit I got a little emotional - this is our first Grand Final win in 14 attempts. It was being called a drought, bordering on a curse. but happily fixed now.
"Today is a great day in the history of our club. For the first time in over 30 years we will field 3 teams in Grand Finals. For 125 years players have been pulling on the Blood and Mustard jersey and we have never missed a season. We provided more men to Anzac than any other club in Sydney, with Lieutenant Harold Watkins being the first Killed in Action on 25 April 1915 at Courtney's Post leading his platoon in hand to hand combat. The club continued to play through both World Wars when most clubs closed down. We survived the transition from HAC to UWS, we survived the student union failing when every other club at Hawkesbury was shut down.
Throughout our 125 years the club has always played and always given our all."
