I think the writing on the wall has just been inked in for me. The ARU doesn't really see a future for the Force after the 2019 season. Sinderberry lining himself up to pitch for Pulver's job and desert the sinking ship too?

I feel really quite despondent tonight.

The ARU could not afford to have a top coach here and then have to pay out a contract..The end of next season will be the telling time as we only have to watch contract renewals and if all are 1 yr renewals then the ARU are packing up shop2018 could be a dark time for NIB stadium if this happens

It will be interesting to see at the Members forum what Mark has to say about why the picked Wessels. They have obviously seen something in him and we should at least all try and keep an open mind. Again being such a young coach might be a very good thing in the long term.

It would be a good thing if there was a "long term'. Actions speak louder than words. This is so depressing, all done in a year or so. I have faithfully maintained my membership despite living overseas, in the vain hope that when I return I could use my seats myself.

I suppose we should be glad the local garbo didn't apply!

2006 to 2016, from tim tams to broken biscuit barrel in such a short time. we now know what the new stadium won't be used for!

I think the most import quote in the article is:

"But it also speaks to the firm support for Wessels of the Force players and administration.

Despite the ARU having taken financial control of the club this year and the initial desire of some powerbrokers to appoint O’Connor, Force boss Mark Sinderberry is understood to have lobbied hard for the young coach
    "

I am glad we have gone for Wessels over Matt O'Connor, O'Connor did nothing of note at the Reds and was set adrift by them after a short stint as interim co coach.

The backing of the players is the most significant comment, as at the end of the day they do the hard yakka on the field and have to perform.

I am sure the ARU would have liked an Australian coach so the lobbying for Wessels must mean that those closest to his work over the past few years have seen something they like.

Like any good company and organisation you always want to promote from within rather than parachute in outsiders.

I remain positive and like always I will be in my seat supporting the Force this year, next year and for how many years I am able to do so.

Simon Cron: “People talk about winning and losing all the time and they are critical, but there’s a process to get into and it’s the ability to stay present, do your job and execute skills under pressure.”

Any good organisation, yes. One whose results have consistently been bottom quartile on the other hand...

Not that any other result was really expected however. I'd agree there seems nothing much to choose between Wessels and O'Connor, but that it came down to that choice speaks volumes. I genuinely wish him the best of luck, but think he will need it and more.

Between Wessels and O'Connor I'll take Wessels.
2014 was a good year for the Force and a lot of that had to do with our defensive structure.
Our biggest problem at the time was our lack of attack.
I suppose that says something about Wessels I just don't know how much.
If 2017 turns out to be another 2014 I'm not going to be disappointed. As long as it doesn't turn out to be another 2016.
