Is French money set to mix up the women's XVs and men's sevens rugby scenes?

French rugby is big money. The world’s best male players end up there at one point or another.

It’s set the global structure of the game on its ear, as players balance the offer of a solid contract vs. the glory of playing for one’s country.

Now it’s a dilemma the world’s best female players may face too.

The Ligue national de rugby, which organizes the Top 14 and D2, the top two flights in France, has a proposal to have all Top 14 clubs running women’s squads, add a third professional men’s tier and start up a professional 7s circuit.

It’s all in a ten year plan, as revealed Tuesday by L’equipe.
