I said that I'd wait until we had the feedback about the ARU and reorganisation for the Force. And I will as we really know no more. Especially after Hansie's lack of any real feedback and nothing more from Sinderpuppet.
BUT - has anybody else noticed that there has been no announcement about Matt Hodgson actually staying on - especially after his shoulder injury. Has there been any news on how Hodgson is going? Or did I miss it? TODAY is reportedly the last day to confirm his extension through to the end of 2017. But reportedly Sinderpuppet (and the Board and ARU??) are trying to get Hodgson to drop his pay. FFS he's already the lowest paid Captain in Aussie SR - something he evidently agreed to to try and support the club through the tough financial times.

Hodgson is the Force's most capped and awarded player and has shown that he strongly supports rugby in WA. He consistently has stated that he wants to be part of the move to success for the Force.
IF Sinderpuppet is trying to cut Hodgson's pay then IMO there is no place for Sinderpuppet in WA.
There is currently no obvious replacement for Hodgson as Captain. To have Hodgson continue through 2017 (and IMO for as long as he wants to stick-around) then it is critical that he helps transition any new Captain in 2017 - to provide on-field and off-field leadership. FFS is the Board actually sitting on it's hands on absolutely every important issue? If so then why are still there?
What's Scott Staniforth doing about this? Is RUPA getting involved? Would be a good question for Hertryks team to give to Redpath as IF this is true it's a disgraceful way to treat our Captain who has bled plenty of his sweat and blood on the pitch for the Western Force.

If you look at the accounts recently posted by andrewg (thanks for showing them in an easy to understand way) - what contribution has Sinderpuppet actually made during his time at the WF? After all - he was meant to be an expert! I hope the ARU and their audit team are having a close look at where the money has been getting allocated. Apart from reducing the dollars that Foley and his team have to spend to keep the players at their best? Bloody disgrace!

The future of the financially embattled Western Force under an Australian Rugby Union bailout should be revealed this week.
So far 8 days and counting. Didn't the ARU "A" Team leave last week?

A week can be a bloody long time in the West!

I would argue that Sinderberry has done what it takes to keep the doors open during a time of extreme financial pressure. Some of the numbers that andrewg posted indicate very clearly what I have suspected for some time. The Force is an organisation on the bones of its bum and the storm shutters have been up for some time. It is not inconceivable that Foley was given the job simply because he was the lowest bidder, it's not inconceivable that he retains his spot for the same reason. It's not inconceivable that all of the problems with gameplan, implementation, player quality, injuries and everything else that has plagued the Force are coming about through one thing. The CEO doesn't have good money to throw after bad and he's doing what he can to continue trading.

This is also indicated by the fact that the ARU are looking to take over, rather than pay out the franchise, They can see that the organisation is ripe for the picking and they can also see that a small investment in building the stocks of the place up could result in a massive financial gain for them. The Force are still on about 10,000 members despite having the worst product in the conference and arguably the competition, imagine how things will turn around with enough investment to bring in some decent players, a good coaching team and the required support services.

If I'm correct, you should be thanking Sinderberry for the Force not folding three years ago!

    Don't disagree either.

But....A part of me wonders what would have happened if we had gone for broke in 2013 after the Graham era.
Like a lot of other clubs around the world do, splurge the last of the cash on high value targets\teams in the hope that a successful season will reward the risk and provide a turnaround in fortunes. With the worst case going hat in hand to mother a bit earlier.

There's always 2 ways to respond to financial shortage. The conservative route and the entrepreneurial. The latter works best when you can get out of your contractual obligations or you have good reasons to expect a bail out from a wealthy benefactor. I'm not sure it would have been wise to consider either, but it could be fun to speculate. IMHO, to save the franchise through a spending strategy would take winning the comp in a short period of time to gain the income to cover the overspending. Let's theorise three years. The way we were treated after getting Gits and Drew, you'd have to consider that if we were able to manage buying a championship, the Waratah, and ergo the ARU would shit kittens.

BTW, heard some bloke drew an envelope for a mill in a comp on Sydney radio. He needs Thaiday to be first try scorer.
