    Haylett-Petty on Wallaby radar

Great article in the West on Dane.

    Haylett-Petty on Wallaby radar

He sure deserves a call up, been our best on ground or close to it in every match, Mr Consistency this year.

In my opinion, the real test of whether a bloke is going to be picked for the Wallabies is what the Fox commentators say. They appear to have a direct line to ARU headquarters and seem to be accurate with their predictions (no matter how stupid the choices are)

When they say Cliff Palu is the most damaging number 8 in World rugby and he's the best man to lock down the Aussie scrum.....well form just doesn't come into it after that for some reason.

The Fox weenies were saying Dane is a shoe in for the squad and were talking about him starting at 15 should Cheika want to put Israel at 13.

I'm not so sure that Izzy at 13 is a good move for test rugby, but with Kuridrani down, the stocks are certainly pretty thin there. I think Dane will play a bench role against England with some starting matches in his future against weaker opposition (so not South Africa, New Zealand, Argentina, Wales, France, Ireland....when do we play Scotland next?)

I don't know why Coleman can possibly be ignored for Wallaby selection - he plays consistently well EVERY week. If he gets overlooked is just plain dumb.

The Fox weenies haven't mentioned him, he won't get picked.

(as a matter of fact, they've started to rave about Ross Haylett-Petty a bit, he might beat Adam into the camp!)

I agree. Big physical lock, good in the set piece and carrying, would add a bit of starch to the forward park.

I may judo chop my screen if I see Palu picked.

DHP probably not quick enough for wing or fullback. Tevita Li made him look very average. DHP thought about giving him the outside changed his mind and got flogged on the inside.
Shame really because he gives a 100%

I think DHP has the potential of replacing AAC as our "Versatile Outside Back". Yes Tevita Li made up look like an under 10 grasping at thin air but his ability to defuse the high ball - and run into space can be built on.

Pretty sure England, All Blacks, South Africa, Argentina, Wales, Scotland and France have wingers as quick as Li who will do the same to him.

I was too timid to mention this as I might be seen as being a "meany", as a coach of mine always said - "I don't mind if he beats you on the outside (with pace), but I will not accept you being beaten on the inside (defending incorrectly). One on ones are the fullbacks "GO" - I was surprised to see him stand pretty much stand straight in front of him, giving him three choices, when he should be showing him the touchline.
Don't care who's fault it was up the field, he should have at least positioned himself properly. DHP does a nice jump and catch, especially now you have to be careful touching the catcher. Cheika would now have a pretty good idea of DHP's strengths and weaknesses, and so would any other team.

GIGS "when do we play Scotland next?"

Be careful what you wish for GIGS - Scotland have won 2 of the last 4 against Australia and that Aussie "win" at the world cup was contentious to say the least

How easily we forget all the other saving tackles that DHP has made this year.

He was the last line of defence, standing flat-footed against a speedy winger.

9/10 Backs would not make that tackle.
