Nathan Charles is under a cloud after three serious injuries. Knee damage ruled him out for most of 2013, he tore a pectoral muscle against the All Blacks in 2014 and sustained a serious shoulder dislocation against the Crusaders earlier this month.

Heath Tessmann is coming to the end of his career and Tom Sexton has not performed at the level the club hoped.

Force are looking for one or two new props, depending on whether Guy Millar and Jermaine Ainsley move up to the full squad, at least one centre, one or two outside backs and a flanker.

They are likely to look overseas for at least one second-rower.

    Not yet!!
I take it from your post that Alcock will not be resigned? A shame for him. when not injured he has looked ok but his appearances have been inconsistent being behind Hodgson in the pecking order.

realistically who can we sign AND would want to come here? no idea. Can imagine the coaching staff having a massive list of potential players they want to sign and just crossing them off after polite refusals until they get to players in the Romanian third division.

No first choice player is going to sign with the Force unless there is a major revamp of the organisation that demonstrates they are on on an upward trend performance wise both on and off field.

This includes having a clearly defined plan which shock horror, might actually include winning the SR title, which is after all why we are all here. I don't believe the Force even imagine the possibility of winning the competition in the next 10 years (do they have 5 year plans similar to the AFL)? They simply exist, going from one year to the next hoping things will fall into place and they might win more games than they lose. Credit to them, local talent is starting to flow through, but imagine how this flow might have turned into a torrent if the team had achieved in it's first 10 years. A winning team with a high profile would have exponentially attracted more junior talent into the sport.

    At the moment Rugby WA/The Force is stuck in a rip. We have;

    No Major Sponsor
No money, can't outbid other teams for players salary wise.
    A Perennial losing record
An average coaching setup (certainly not world class and not an incentive for any player to move West)
We are geographically isolated (a factor if having to move away from family/friends)

We are on a hiding to nothing and unless there is some major plan being secretly implemented behind the scenes for next season, I don't see how things are going to change by Foley et all staying on.

Not helped by the way ARU contracting is handled at the moment.

My Very 1st Post. Coz I'm worried about the Future of the Force. Tired of the silence around our crap position at the moment.

Why is it that players like Adam Coleman is only being offered a 1-year extension on his contract?
This Lock is likely to be pushing for Wallabies selection this year.
He's really lifted his game and has been laying on some big tackles.
His passion for the game is fantastic. Especially when some others don't seem to care whatever happens.

If this what we're going to see for our good players we're just opening the door for them to get better offers elsewhere.
Is the ARU involvement giving an added complication to this process?

Who's making the final decisions about new contracts and who stays and who goes?
Is it Foley? Sinderberry? Some faceless person in the ARU?
    Who's calling the shots?

What about all of the certains who shouldn't be waiting to have their future assured?
Pek Cowan (Like a good wine he's only starting to get better)
Angus Cottrell (Now clear of injury needs to start carrying the ball to and through contact)
Kyle Godwin (Who seems to be recovering from a bad run of injury)
Luke Morahan (He and DH-P are starting to combine well.)

And the locals who have shown that they can lift to SR level?
Koteka (Hodgo can't go on for ever. Koteka has shown that he can outwork Alcock)
Hardwick (Good cover for 6 or 8. And wait until he really grows up)
Scoble (Looks really at home at SR level and can only get better. Really got involved against a big Bulls side)

These players are the solid core or future for the Force.
Why aren't these players getting locked in for the next 2 years minimum NOW?

Re Coleman's one year, I think that would be the move of a smart manager who knows he'll be in the frame for the wobs sooner than later.

If he's on a three year, they don't need to top him up, but if he's out of contract at the end of next year, they'll have to look at a top up.

It also keeps him open to big money offers from Europe and Sydney.

He'd be crazy to sign anything more this year

Can't say that will be a big loss.
He's not outstandingly bad, but we need to swap the bottom end of our list for some who would match or better the top end of our list, so Thanks for the effort Guy.

Guy Millar was one of the top props in the NRC, so we did well to bring him over here. But it does highlight the difference between NRC and Super Rugby levels, which he never seemed to bridge.
