    Jetty 7s

Two days away - so who's going, who looks the goods, any fixtures or other info up yet?

Should see a Rockingham team make their way down - at least we start closer than the rest of you guys... (except Mandurah and Bunbury...)

    Agreed.

The second day last year just plain sucked. Was it Kala lads didn't even show up for their Bowl/Plate final vs Neddies and just went home?

Wow, what a finish to the Jetty 7s... Mandurah 3-peated the B division tournament but the craziness began after that. Cottesloe won the women's final after Fresh thought they had won the game - celebrations had already begun when a touchy's report saw a Fresh player yellow carded and Cott scoring a converted try to steal the win. Fresh then won the men's final over Wests after the game was stopped for half an hour when a Fresh player suffered what I'm told was a hip injury and an ambulance had to be called back to the ground.

What soured the end of the tournament was the behaviour of Fresh and its supporters. They may have felt aggrieved by controversial refereeing decisions, the unfortunate young lad's injury and perceived slights from the crowd. But to react the way they did, abusing match and tournament officials, making threats about opposition players, and picking fights with members of the crowd, does not seem like the actions of a team that cares about their supposed Christian values or the sport that allows them to take part in its tournaments every year to much success. The silence and rapid departure of spectators after the final whistle told the story. It sounds like Rugby WA will want to take this further but, Fresh not being a registered club, what course of action could they take?

Rugbywa better hope the Fresh player suffered nothing serious if the player was not registered.

Anyway, there's a lot of room under RugbyWA's carpet.

Decided to day trip it down to Busselton to watch the Jetty 7's, it was a well run day for the most part and a well done to RugbyWA for putting on a good day of Rugby and a congrats is in order for the winners on the day. I think moving to a one day format was better than last years 2 day format as the 2nd day was flat with no atmosphere.

The day was somewhat soured by the behaviour of the Fresh contingent, their constant arguing with match and tournament officials throughout the day was irritating and it came to a head during the ladies final. A no arms tackle led to a penalty and a yellow card after the siren when the Fresh girls thought they had it won led to the Fresh coach/player running into the field to argue with the referee and the assistant referee who made the call, as was the player who shown the yellow card who at one stage refused to leave the field. While the Cott girls were good enough to take advantage of the penalty and score a try with the match winning conversion the Fresh coach the. Took his argument up with the tournament director, effectively asking her to over turn the decision.

Now I may need to be corrected by a referee on these forums but if the balls goes out then final hooter sounds 5 seconds after the ball has crossed the line out is still played?

If a player or a coach from a club affiliated with RugbyWA were to display the same behaviour I would assume they would open themselves up to sanctions from RugbyWA. How does RugbyWA sanction these Fresh squad members?

The Fresh carry on spilled over into the Men's final with the player coach still arguing with match officials over every decision. The match referee coming to the sideline at one stage to explain a decision and that he gave the Fresh player who was arguing a decision on field ample explanation on field as well. Next up from the coach was an argument with sideline officials as he was trying to get onto the field.

A Fresh player went down with a hip injury and the men's final had to be stopped for roughly 30-45 minutes while an ambulance was called back to the ground. The age of the player may come into question as he was only 16 according to a few sources at the ground.

No one hung around to watch he presentation of the men's trophy in part because of behaviour displayed throughout the day.

As for Gunny's question, Fresh are an apparent church group but most of the players play Rugby League. They obviously brought their Mungo behaviour down to Bussleton.
