    Latest IRB Rankings

The latest IRB rankings are out after the world cup: http://www.worldrugby.org/rankings

    1 New Zealand 93.67
    2 Australia 91.75
    3 South Africa 86.02
    4 Argentina 84.24
    5 Wales 83.49
    6 Ireland 81.17
    7 France 79.77
    8 England 79.77
    9 Scotland 77.94
    10 Japan 77.05
    11 Fiji 76.96
    12 Italy 72.74
    13 Tonga 71.60
    14 Georgia 71.45
    15 Samoa 70.36
    16 USA 68.66
    17 Romania 66.59
    18 Canada 62.65
    19 Uruguay 62.11
    20 Namibia 61.75

No great surprise that the top 20 are the 20 world cup finalists, but after that, the rankings are:

Spain, Russia, Chile, Hong Kong, Korea, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Portugal, Belgium, Ukraine, Germany, Moldova, Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland, Paraguay, Sri Lanka, Czech Republic, Brazil, Tunisia, Madagascar (41st!) Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Malta, Trinidad & Tobago, Cook Islands, Colombia, Uganda, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire.

I also note that Bermuda (population ~60,000) are 66th, one place above China (population 1.4 billion)!

Cheika and the team have done well to get us consolidated into 2nd spot.

12 months ago it was only something to dream about.

Scotland, who managed to get out of the pool, are behind England who, if memory serves, didn't.

I'm not sure if Scotland were in the top 10 at the start of the world cup, so they've improved. England were ~5th/6th at the start, so they've dropped.

At the draw for RWC 2015, the pool of death included Wales because in 2012/13 they lay 9th. Onthese rankings Scotland will be hard done by. Germany has risen up tremendously, a couple of years ago they were 39th.
