The Qantas Wallabies will play their first Test match at the ‘Force Field’ (nib Stadium) when they take on Argentina next year, with 2016 full-season ticketed Western Force members having have an exclusive right to purchase the limited number of tickets available to the match.
The final Rugby Championship match on home soil for the Qantas Wallabies in 2016 will double as the inaugural Test at the rectangular venue, where Western Australian fans will experience the action closer than ever before when the Wallabies host the Pumas on Saturday, 17 September.
Test rugby will return to the venue the following season when the Qantas Wallabies host South Africa in a blockbuster 2017 Rugby Championship clash.
The 2016 Western Force member priority Test match ticket purchase opportunity will be available for a limited time. Conditions apply and further information will be provided next month closer to 2016 Western Force memberships on-sale date.
Western Force CEO Mark Sinderberry says being a 2016 Force member is the best way to obtain the limited number of tickets to the match.
“The news that Test rugby is coming to the ‘Force Field’ will make our supporters in the Sea of Blue very happy indeed,” he said.
“Being at a smaller venue, the number of tickets available is limited and they will be in high demand, and the best way to get access to these tickets will be as a 2016 Western Force member, who will receive a priority purchase window to the Test.”
“We believe the ‘Force Field’ is one of the best small and intimate stadiums in world rugby, which will provide an outstanding spectator experience and bring Perth fans closer to Test rugby than they’ve ever been before.”
Australian Rugby Union CEO Bill Pulver said he was pleased to see Test rugby played at the ‘Force Field’ (nib Stadiumn).
“nib Stadium is a wonderful venue for Rugby and certainly delivers a fantastic atmosphere when the ‘Sea of Blue’ fill the stands for Western Force matches,” he said.
“We want that Sea of Blue to turn gold on September 17 when the Qantas Wallabies host the Pumas from Argentina next year, and again when we welcome the Springboks back to Perth in 2017.
“Our fans deserve the best possible experience when they come to a Test match and a move to a rectangular venue which is fan-friendly and purpose-built for rugby is a great outcome for fans.
“I would like to thank the Western Australian Government for their support of the Qantas Wallabies and Australian Rugby and we look forward to bringing the Qantas Wallabies to nib Stadium for the first time next year.”
Prior to next year’s clash with Argentina, the Qantas Wallabies will host Rugby Championship matches against the All Blacks at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on Saturday, 20 August, and the Springboks at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Saturday, 10 September.
This schedule, in addition to a history-making three Test series against England in June, will ensure the domestic calendar of international Rugby in 2016 is one of the most highly-anticipated in recent history.
Australia will also play away matches against the All Blacks (August 27), South Africa (October 1) and Argentina (October 8) in 2016 as the Rugby Championship reverts to its traditional home-and-away format after a truncated 2015 schedule.
