2015 Pindan Premier Grade Road to Finals

By David Berrie on Thu 23rd July 15

With just three rounds remaining the Pindan Premier Grade and the race for the finals intensifying each week, we had a look at the eight teams still in the hunt for the finals, and dissected their run into the business end of the season.

    Wests Scarborough:

    Currently – 1st (65 points)

Next Three Games – Associates (H), Palmyra (A), UWA (H)

Wests Scarborough have been a dominant force all season and with three rounds to go in the 2015 Pindan Premier Grade season have already secured a top-two finish. With Nedlands hot on their heels the Boars cannot afford to drop a game if they want to clinch the minor premiership.

    Nedlands:

    Currently – 2nd (64 points)

Next Three Games – Cottesloe (H), Joondalup (H), Palmyra (A)

Nedlands currently trail Wests Scarborough by just a single point despite having dropped one more game thanks to tallying 10 four-try bonus-points. ‘Neddies’ have one of the most powerful backlines the competition and could steal the minor premiership with three wins on the run home.

    Kalamunda:

    Currently – 3rd (48 points)

Next Three Games – Palmyra (H), Wanneroo (A), Cottesloe (H)

Kalamunda currently sit in third spot and are just one win from all but wrapping up a spot in the finals. With two home games in the last three weeks, the Bulls are well positioned to play their first finals series in XX years.

    Cottesloe:

    Currently – 4th (41 points)

Next Three Games – Nedlands (A), Associates (H), Kalamunda (A)

Cottesloe pulled themselves out of a mid-season slump to charge back into the four in recent weeks. The Gulls could climb as high as third with three bonus-point wins depending on Kalamunda’s results. However, the chasing pack poses a threat to the perennial finals club and the Round 17 match against match-up with ‘Soaks’ will prove pivotal in deciding fourth spot.

    Associates:

    Currently – 5th (38 points)

Next Three Games – Wests Scarborough (A), Cottesloe (A), Joondalup (H)

Associates currently sit in fifth-place just three points adrift of fourth-place Cottesloe. ‘Soaks’ have a tough run coming home, facing two sides above them on the ladder. However, the Swanbourne club’s destiny is largely in their own hands and can clinch four spot in the next few weeks with the trip to Harvey Field likely to be Associates most important match of the season to date.

    Palmyra:

    Currently: 6th (37 points)

Next Three Matches – Kalamunda (A), Wests Scarborough (H), Nedlands (H)

A loss to Perth Bayswater in Round 15 put a dent in Palmyra’s finals charge but sitting just five points outside of the four they are still in the race for the finals. Palmyra face an uphill battle to make the finals as they take on Wests (first), Nedlands (second) and Kalamunda (third) in coming weeks but three victories could see them sneak into the four.

    UWA:

    Currently: 7th (33 points)

Next Three Games – Joondalup (A), Perth Bayswater (H), Wanneroo (A)

UWA’s late season charge had the students perfectly poised to make an unlikely run towards the four in the last three weeks of the season. UWA have favourable run home, facing three sides below them on the ladder. Bonus-point wins are the order for UWA and could see them appear in the finals to defend their title, depending on the results of the sides above them.

    Joondalup:

    Currently – 8th (30 points)

Next Three Games – UWA (H), Nedlands (A), Associates (A)

Joondalup must continue to believe in their first season in the Pindan Premier Grade. With three games left to play the Brothers are still in the hunt mathematically. If Joondalup can take 15-points away from their next three games they could find their way into the four, provided other results go their way with the teams above them.
