PINDAN PREMIER GRADE PREVIEW: ROUND 12

Bennett Park will play host to a mouth-watering top two clash in the Pindan Premier Grade Match of the Round when second-place Nedlands take on undefeated Wests Scarborough.

Wests Scarborough survived a scare in Round 11 to maintain their perfect record with a nail-biting one-point victory over a defiant UWA side, 19-18. The Boars will need to be at their best to keep their unblemished season intact up against a Nedlands side that hasn’t dropped a game since the side’s last met in Round one.

‘Neddies’ successfully defended the RugbyWA Cup yet again in Round 11 with a strong victory over Kalamunda in harsh conditions, 22-5. Nedlands’ formidable halves pairing, Jese Toto and Michael Ruru were at their attacking best last round, setting each other up for a try a piece and will look to bring the same performance on Saturday.

Associates (3) v UWA (8) at Allen Park, Swanbourne
Round One: Associates 22 defeated UWA 5 at McGillivray Oval, Mount Claremont.

Traditional rivals UWA and Associates will lock horns when they do battle at Allen Park this weekend.

Associates suffered a shock defeat at home in Round 11 going down to Wanneroo by three-points, 21-18. Last round’s loss brought an end to a three match winning streak and the Swanbourne club will be intent and making up for their slip-up to protect their top four spot from the chasing pack.

UWA fell agonisingly short of their best win of the season so far with a heart-breaking one-point loss to Wests Scarborough, 19-18. Despite the loss, UWA sit just two wins outside of the top four and will look to knock-off their rivals and climb towards the four this weekend.

Kalamunda (4) v Joondalup (7) at Hartfield Park, Forrestfield
Round One: Joondalup 22 defeated 17 at HBF Arena Sportsplex, Joondalup

Kalamunda will look to defend their position in the top four when they host seventh-placed Joondalup at Hartfield Park.

The Bulls are hanging onto fourth spot despite two consecutive losses after going down to Nedlands by 17-points, 22-5. With competition in the middle of the table heating up the Bulls will be focused on putting together an 80-minute performance and return to winning form against Joondalup.

Joondalup will be full of confidence heading into Round 12 after a dominant 31-point over Perth Bayswater last round, 41-10. The Brothers ran in six tries and will look to bring the same attacking flare to Hartfield and complete a season sweep of the Bulls.

Palymra (6) v Wanneroo (9) at Tompkins Park, Alfred Cove.
Round One: Palmyra 53 defeated Wanneroo 17 at Kingsway Reserve, Landsdale.

Palmyra will look break into the top four for the first time this season when they tackle ninth-place Wanneroo at Tompkins Park.

‘Paly’ are aiming to notch up their third victory in as many weeks in Round 12, after a strong away win against Cottesloe, 22-8. Sitting in sixth, but just three points outside fourth place Palmyra can move from mid-table obscurity to genuine finals contender with a big win on Saturday.

Wanneroo will come into Saturday’s contest full off confidence after pulling off the upset of the season so far with a three-point victory over Associates, 21-18. The Roodogs put in their most complete defensive performance of the season so far, conceding just two tries and will to bring the same defensive intensity to Tompkins Park.

Palmyra: 1. Joe Savage (c), 2. Nathan Charles, 3. Tuhoe Mahaki, 4. James Simpson, 5. Jarrod Menary, 6. Josh Everett, 7. Gavin Armstrong, 8. Onehunga Havilli, 9. Isaac Marriner, 10. Sam Jurisich, 11. Tommy Foster, 12. Michael Fotu, 13. Jonny Alston, 14. Panache Kamhara, 15. Tutere Waenga.

Perth Bayswater will look register their first win of the 2015 season when they play host to fifth-place Cottesloe at Pat O’Hara Reserve.

‘Baysie’ are still on the hunt for their first taste of victory this season but are eyeing off an upset against a struggling Cottesloe outfit. Perth Bayswater suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Joondalup in Round 11 going down by 31-points, 41-10, and will look to strengthen their defense to give themselves a chance of an upset.

Cottesloe sit just two points outside of the top four despite a lack of form in recent weeks, most recently falling to Palmyra, 22-8. With competition for finals places heating up every week, the Gulls will be desperate to find some for to carry into the back end of the season.

The Gulls pack has been bolstered with the inclusion of the Western Force contingent of Robbie Abel, Oliver Hoskins and Ross Haylett-Petty.

I agree 100 percent Buck and sooner rather than later, just won't be tomorrow that's all. Very close to full strength so no excuses.

Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.

Westie We will take that loss that you are due for in round 14 when we play you guys

Buck Pally is nervous if they dont win they basically have no chance of getting into the finals so lots of pressure on them the might just choke and Bally we sure as hell are not going to allow Pally even with all their Force players to run away from us if we can help it

Your U/17's gave our lad's a bloody decent touch up tonight. Some very handy young guy's coming through for the club. Will put some of our prima donnas back in their box.

What influence with the WF players have on Club results this weekend. Most of them will need to make an impact as they have done stuff all in the pro game.
Nedlands - Wests. Win to Nedlands with a 4 try bonus point. I understand they have some new backline combinations but the forward pack will lay the foundation. Will Pek front up for Wests?
Cottesloe - PerthBayswater. Hate to say it but Cott by quite a lot.
Palmyra - Wanneroo. Palymyra by 12 points.
Associates - UWA. UWA, they have told me that they always do better in the 2nd round. So I am backing them to win.
Kalamunda - Joondalup. Kalamunda to win.

Coach blamed the ref for the loss lol he was fairly upset too. However West did not play with any plan and very little structure They had no dissapline and was not the same team I watched a few weeks ago at Pally. There was unhappyness in the backline arguing with each other.

But I agree it was one of the best games wanneroo u17 has played so far this season

Pieter, not only do Pally have "all their force players", you forgot to mention, they have all their wallabies back as well.
All home grown, coming from Juniors in seniors for the club.
Great day for the club with the Juniors at home, to see the our home grown force and wallaby players, wait sorry only half of the juniors at home on a club day?

4 wins and a draw in 2's not a bad day away from home.

One of the best club games of the year.it was physically brutal at times and both teams will be very sore today.the pace of the game was as quick as your going to see.if the perth spirit coaches were there yesterday they would be talking to alot of these boys yesterday.westieman it was a great day put on by wests with close games through out the day with the only incident being a very unproffesional wests president abusing the touch judge after the game .which was really off considering the touchy has 5 boys playing at the club.any way micheal ruru proved he is the premier half back in the game and in yesterdays performance foley should have a contract on the table monday morning and whilst hes at it sign up jermaine ainsley before octago does .this kid has serious talent.

Definitely some good talent on display
First try scored form some good go forward work halfback gets in behind breakdown finds space for outside backs to score
2nd try lack of commitment at breakdown try you see scored at brittania in under 12 s every week
    Weakness behind the breakdown
3rd try scored hard work going forward lack of commitment by Wests tight 5
Creating space out wide to score didn't see 4 th try but would presume much of the same
Was laughed at by westie when I pointed these weaknesses out in the kala review but maybe the tight five might need to commit a little more in this type of game
