That's not what I (and I think Palitu) were trying to say. What I'm saying is that you get more out of him when he plays flanker, he has more opportunities in the loose to make the sort of carries he's good at. Lock ties him in more, and I don't know if you've played either position, but lock definitely takes more out of you at scrums and lineouts, unless you're not doing your job properly that is...?

To me the question is not if Mafi is better at lock or flanker, but is the team better with Mafi as a lock and Cottrell at 6, or Mafi at flanker and Wykes/coleman/steenkamp at lock. I prefer him at lock because he does bring that extra running ability to the locks and gives us a good flanker. I don't think he is significantly better than Cottrell to justify him there and downgrade our locks.

I agree with what you're saying, but I wasn't trying to say who was better at lock or flanker, I was just trying to point out that Mafi isn't as prominent in the loose when he plays lock.
