would have thought that the time of the charge (in a contract with the QLDRU and ARU) would be more important than the time the alleged offence occurred. Even if his contract was unclear about this. Places the ARU in a pickle. Police are alleging he was wheeling and dealing and (I would think) it would be a far more serious issue than the Sailor circumstances. The ARU could just indicate his actions are bringing the game into disrepute and unilaterally cancel his contract on that basis.

From what I can tell from the media it looks like an long police investigation and ongoing supply, so if he goes down for that there is a good chance a court will slot him.

Ben Cousins was tested by drug testers frequently through his AFL career and never returned a positive test.

But Muddly is correct, he has been charged with trafficking not using.

Personally I think Trafficking is the lower act of the two.

Using is dumb, Trafficking is evil.

    And I'd agree with you!

Drug dealers make their money on human misery and I have no sympathy for any drug traffickers caught.

I worry a little when our law enforcement agencies ( in this case the CCC) would have picked up that the Reds and ARU were about to sign KHunt. Surely someone in the CCC could have made a telephone call to Bill Pulver and say " mate - put your chat with Khunt on hold for a wee while, there's a bit of a question mark". There's no benefit for the CCC to see so much collateral damage being done.

Why would the investigate authorities give two hoots about hunt's vocational status. Would've just thrown their investigation down the toilet.

Confidentiality, could blow the entire investigation, not a chance!

Two Gold Coast Titans players just arrested in connection as well...the plot thickens! Bloody Mungos!!!!!

CCC should be investigating the ARU anyway

Agreed it's not Hunt's vocational status they should worry about, it's the fact they would know a deal worth millions in $$$, Millions in goodwill was about to be signed by an innocent party who would pay a heavy price once the poo hit the fan. At senior exec level confidentiality can be assured and the ARU could have just said to Hunt's manager - " mate we need some time blah blah blah".

Blind Freddie in the CCC would know that Rugby Union is going to tarred once the charges are laid and down the drain would go $$$, goodwill, reputation and confidence in a code that could be avoided.

Maybe I am too naive to think there are people who care about collateral damage.

I was discussing this with a mate a while ago. We wondered if this was really the case or just a propaganda line sold to us to support the war on drugs. After all, the narcotic in question will not kill you if you use them responsibly (as odd as that sounds). Compare them to the local IGA who can sell you cigarettes? A product that will kill you if you use them as described.

In a free society, surely people are responsible for thier own drug abuse misery, be it narcotics, cigarettes or alcohol? Vilifying the suppliers and thus painting users as victims of them, seems like a cheap way to garner policy support..

Funnily enough I don't think anybody in the CCC would give two shits about the ARU's reputation if it meant ANY SLIGHT CHANCE that the investigation would be hampered. For my money that is absolutely the right viewpoint.

You all know my feelings about the integrity of Qld and ARU rugby, If I was in the CCC I wouldn't trust them to keep quiet about my kid's birthday party!

It's not the reputation of the QRU and ARU that I refer to, it's you 'n me and our beloved code and all that we try to achieve. Playing Tennis this morning, I had AFL guys ask. " What's Rugby Unions' position on Traffickers???"

Why should the CCC or any other law enforcement agency give a fat rats proverbial about the employment status of anyone under investigation?

Clearly they don't and nor should they.
