Okay credit due to Fresh but does anyone know how next season will pan out for those that have not registered and paid their levy for an ARU ID Number.
It's my understanding that the insurance levy paid by each rugby player entitles them to insurance coverage for a 12 month period beginning and ending 1st April each year.
Will this team of league players be allowed to enter Rugby WA sanctioned 7 A-side comps without paying the insurance levy direct to the ARU that every single union player has to pay.
Fresh has taken approx 8000 dollars in prize money out of local 7's comps this season.
Personally I don't think that teams that are loaded up and don't play or contribute to rugby union in any other shape or form should be eligible to take that sort of money out of grassroots rugby.
If one of them got seriously injured who would be liable.

Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.

They would pay a insurance levy to their governing body for the privilege of playing. It's called user pays Gunny, like everything else.

Surely RugbyWA would have advised Fresh or Hong Kong of the insurance requirements in order to compete in a RugbyWA competition?

Alcohol Think Again sponsor Beach 5's and Margaret River 7's. City of Cockburn sponsor Cockburn 7's.Entry fee would also cover a fair bit of prize money

You used to sign a rego form and be covered automatically but the new online ARU rego now requires 115 dollars to accompany a player rego number in order to be covered in all ARU sanctioned comps.

Just to allay any fears that I'm slipping back into my old negative Rugby WA bashing ways all the off season comps were very professionally run and were a lot of fun.
Wests are also actually allowed back to their Margaret River accommodation for the first time in 4 years. Pity the comp is in Busselton next year.

Doesn't the rego fee cover insurance as well? I believe that was confirmed at some stage last year after the 7's comp.

But whether that insurance will cover an under age player is a different question.

good grief. I'm hating the red tape in sport.

I sail and we are beset with the stuff. Earlier this year we discovered that Yachting WA has been sharing all our personal data with News Corporation without "really" telling us. All because everyone "needed" to be registered. Needless to say a bunch of us are very pissed off about this now we understand what that email back in 2013 actually ment..

I wonder if ARU are doing this sort of thing with personal data too?
