Why do we need to get rid of refs? In what way was the ref rubbish?
    (I didn't go, so cannot comment first-hand)

I have a massive issue with Graham Cooper refereeing any Rugby WA match the bloke is just a walking conflict of interest.

He works with the players everyday and is to involved with them and the organisation to ref them at any competitive level.

He blew the boys off the park today and if anyone has ever seen him ref a force a game it's the same old story.

I think he knows that he will be criticised if shows any sort of lenience to the wa teams and almost goes to far in trying to not have his interests and relationship with the players be an issue.

He shouldn't be put in that position and nor should the players imagine walking into work tomorrow.

Anyone know what that penalty was for at about the 72 minute mark? Thought we'd taken a quick throw only for a penalty almost inline with it...

It was for our bench passing the ball to our team for the quick throw

Loved it, my wife, son and me loved it. Getting to run on at half time and run around was great and my son loved it.

Can one of our resident refs clarify this one for us? I thought in this situation that the quick lineout was just disallowed, I cant see where in the Laws this results in a penalty against the team throwing in?

Or the penalty advantage at the end where we didnt get the penalty but a full time whistle?

Was there 2 refs? One in each half?

Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.

Enjoyed the Game and the atmosphere. Shame about the result though.
It is strange that last week a team of mainly non professionals won agains Canberra and this week an almost totaly Force populated team can't win against the Brissie team this week!

    One of the law variations:

Quick throw ins are OK if touched by any player or support staff; must be same ball as per current law. (Law 19.2d)
    - The intent of this law is to provide the opportunity for more quick throw-ins not to provide an unfair advantage
    - Must be same ball, lineout not set i.e. 2 from each team
    - No delay in formation, quick means quick
    - Can be touched by other players over the sideline including relay
    - If support staff or reserves deliberately touch the ball a PK is awarded 15m in.
    - A quick throw in can still be taken if it touches support staff or reserves
    - Referees to be strict on players tackled over the sideline throwing ball away or not giving up ball for a quick throw = PK 15m in.

Personal takeaway from that was that I thought they looked more mechanical than some of the other teams. Their running of the ball probably improved as the game progressed, although that could have been the other team tiring. But they need work on pinning defenders, and they seemed to really come up short on running support (and occasionally looking for it). TBH, it really looked a bit like they had forgotten how to go about attacking with ball in hand and were a little flustered.
