Match of the round: UWA (2) v Wests Scarborough (4) at McGillivray Oval, Mt Claremont
Last time they met: Wests Scarborough 27 defeated UWA 10 at Bennett Park, Scarborough

There is plenty to play for in the final round of the Pindan Premier Grade season with Wests Scarborough looking to confirm a finals berth while UWA will be looking to sew up second place on the ladder.

Wests Scarborough must take away at least one bonus point from the match in order to ensure a finals spot with Associates sitting five points behind with a match against Wanneroo awaiting them this weekend.

Wests Scarborough coach Dwayne Grace said his team’s fate was in their own hands.

“This is our season this weekend, so we’ll be putting everything into the game,” he said. “We have worked pretty hard over the past five weeks to get ourselves in this situation and we basically have to win this or get a bonus point.

“I think it will be a solid defensive game but we need to be scoring points and building on the momentum from the last five weeks.”

UWA coach Steve McFarland said he was very pleased to have already qualified for the finals.

“While we’ve lost just one game in the second round and we have been playing some good rugby, last week’s bye definitely came at an opportune time to allow us to rest and freshen up,” he said.

“What we can control is getting a good result on Saturday and that means we will finish second on the ladder irrespective of what Cottesloe does.”

Both UWA and Wests Scarborough are currently on five-game winning streaks and have been the in-form teams in the back end of the competition, with Associates also showing some late season form.

The students have beaten Nedlands, Cottesloe and Kalamunda in the last five games and have climbed to second on the ladder, after being on the edge of the top four for most of the season.

Wests Scarborough’s winning streak has helped them stay in touch with the top four, as Palmyra and Kalamunda slipped out of the race.

Wests Scarborough will be boosted by the return of Brad Lacey to the starting XV and will look to backs Maia King and Marty Campbell to continue their impressive attacking form.

After coming off the bye round, UWA have added Jacob Gianolli to the front row while Cal Dogget will play at flyhalf.

    Kalamunda (6) v Cottesloe (3) at Hartfield Park, Forrestfield. Kick-off: 2.15pm
Last time they met: Cottesloe 37 defeated Kalamunda 11 at Harvey Field, Cottesloe

With last week’s loss to Palmyra, Cottesloe will be determined to overcome Kalamunda and taking some winning form into next weekend’s semi-finals.

The Gulls have won just one game out of their last six, after winning nine straight in the first half of the season.

Kalamunda are now out of the finals race following their 21-point loss to Nedlands last week. The Bulls will be looking to end their season on a high and farewell two great players in David Kara and Kane Allen into retirement.

The Cottesloe attack will again feature the in-form Ali Haining, AJ Abel and Ross Haylett-Petty as the Gulls look shoot for a top two finish.

Wanneroo (9) v Associates (5) at Kingsway Reserve, Landsdale
Last time they met: Associates 62 defeated Wanneroo 3 at Allen Park, Swanbourne

It is do-or-die this week for Associates when they come up against Wanneroo in a must-win match at Kingsway Reserve.

In order to finish in the top four, Associates must defeat Wanneroo with a bonus point and rely on Wests Scarborough being denied so much as a bonus point against UWA.

Associates have been on fire in the second half of the season, winning six out of eight games including wins over Cottesloe and UWA.

Wanneroo will be coming into the game full of confidence after taking it up to fourth-placed Wests Scarborough before going down 24-15 in their best performance of the season so far.

Associates have added Andi Lawrence into their front row and they have also brought in Kylan Yoxall and Hugh Norcross ion their halves.

Perth Bayswater (8) v Nedlands (1) at Pat O’Hara Reserve, Morley
Last time they met: Nedlands 14 drew with Perth Bayswater 14 at The Foreshore, Nedlands

Even though they have wrapped up the 2014 minor premiership, Nedlands will be looking to finish the season on a high after sharing the points with Perth Bayswater at home the last time the two teams met.

Nedlands were crowned minor premiers after a 21-point win over Kalamunda at home last weekend and will now await the results of the final round of the Pindan Premier Grade to find out their semi-final opponents.

Perth Bayswater will be looking to finish on a high as they have lost five games in a row and have only won once since their draw with Nedlands back in round nine.

Lei Aholelei returns to loosehead prop for Nedlands, with Travis Church being named on the tighthead side.
