Western Force will use lessons learnt from the way they rebounded after last month's loss to Melbourne to get their campaign back on track against the Lions at nib Stadium on Saturday night.

The Rebels snapped a five-game winning streak, beating the Force 22-16 at AAMI Park, but the WA side recovered to win its next two matches.

The Force now face a similar scenario and have set their sights on the next two games after falling 24-8 to the Stormers in Cape Town.

After facing the Lions, the Force travel to Christchurch to play the Crusaders before the month-long break while Australia play their Test series against France.

Matt Hodgson is viewed as an outside chance to earn selection when coach Ewen McKenzie names his Wallabies squad on Thursday, but the Force captain is more worried about addressing the shortcomings that were prevalent against the Stormers.

"We put in a similar performance against Melbourne and we bounced back from that. We know we can do it," Hodgson said.

"We didn't turn up on the day. We watched the Stormers for the first 35 minutes.

"You can't come back from that, especially against a team like that at home.

"Attitude wasn't there from the start. There was probably a combination of many things, but you can't look at one game.

"One game does not make your season. We've got to go back to what was working for us."
