He still has legs in him does Horwill, but not as captain. Time to top up the super in France.

I think they get involved too much nowadays anyway.
I for one have long lamented the fact that the ref and touchies miss a lot of stuff on the field. I am sure I am not alone. Now that we have the technology to pick up foul play we should use it. I don't see it as grandstanding by the TMO.

Fair point. But, when decisions were purely down to the ref, at least we had someone obvious to blame when results didn't go our way...??

....and it looks like the SANZAR judiciary disagreed with the TMO's decision anyway...

Unconscionable decision by SANZAR imo! Thought the face was totally off limits, but this decision seems to say it's fair game to deliberately go for the face. Good luck all you refs and assistant refs out there.

Look, upon first viewing I said there was nothing in it, but upon re thinking it, he definitely had his finger in contact with the eye. I guess it depends upon the standard which you are trying to set, but I thought that the contact was enough to contravene a concept of the eyes being "totally off limits"

It appears they aren't, apparently you need to provoke a reaction from the victim before it's gouging.

This makes the judiciary appear weak, the officials appear vindictive and the reds appear justified in their loud and repeated slagging of the refereeing team. I thought the Ref was sacred in this game, apparently I was wrong.

Horwill should have been sanctioned over his comments regardless of the outcome of the citation, now we'll have every tinpot whinger slagging off at every decision that goes against them in an attempt to redress the outcome in the judiciary.

    I smell American football coming!

Higginbotham's testimony may have had an influence on the decision. He's an irritating so-and-so on the field, but at heart I think he's a decent bloke....
