Kyle Godwin ruled out for Force

The Western Force's bid to create franchise history this weekend has been dealt a major blow after star centre Kyle Godwin was grounded by a knee injury.

Godwin has been ruled out of Saturday night's match against the Stormers in Cape Town, with his absence thrusting 20-year-old debutant Luke Burton into a starting role at inside centre.

Winger Dane Haylett-Petty (groin) will also miss the match.

Former rugby league back Chris Tuatara-Morrison will start at outside centre in his run-on debut, while Marcel Brache will shift to the wing.

In a dose of good news for the Force, in-form flyhalf Sias Ebersohn will play after overcoming the knee injury he sustained in last week's win over the Cheetahs.

I am viewing this in a positive light. Another wa boy plays for the force. Plus I am starting to see Kyle as a 13 the more he plays

Couldn't agree more Australia's answer to Conrad Smith

Kyle's absence is a big blow, however you look at it.

    Big chance for Burton.

At least there was no automatic reinstatement of Dellitt in the starting side.

Would have thought Brache and CTM should have remained in the centres, but I guess Foles knows what he's doing.

Brache and CTM played last week in the same positions and it seemed to work. Looking forward to seeing what Luke can do.

I just hope that Luke can match Kyle's defensive prowess. We are still in with a good chance. Games are won and lost in the forwards and ours are the same ones that dominated the Cheetahs last week. Hopefully Cheese's line-out throwing will be good and the Stormer's forwards are less cohesive as a unit.
