This should of been the case for the Western Force's 1st Grade players when they were turning up playing sh1te rugby... Cant quiet say that for rounds 3 - 10 this year where they should be on bonus's from their recent performance.

That threat has been around for many years - doesn't change much, still get people avoiding paying fees like it's the plague... Don't know how they are going to control this, it's up to the club on whether they actually have the balls to stop the players playing until they have paid - which 9.5 times out of 10 probably isn't the case!

A few creative ideas one involving the President and the VP marching up and down like Colonel Clink and Serjeant Shultz pulling players out at training, and asking them why they haven't paid - that worked a treat (not). At least one club allowed play with no pay, (and possibly the odd dodgy unregistered player or five), in one grade in a bid to avoid pulling out last season - result: last or thereabouts, all that was accomplished (supposedly) was they didn't waste the registration fee paid to Rugby WA by forfeiting.

If Rugby WA advises clubs not to play players who have not paid, then you'll very quickly get a real feel for the state of Metro Rugby in WA

The lack of dialogue and interest by those who used to post on here regularly regarding metro rugby show the real feel for the state of local club rugby. It's been screwed

Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.

With the mess that club rugby is in at the moment thought rugby wa would focus their efforts towards a more realistic target.
Some Players have and sadly always will try to get out of paying fees but with the comp as it is you have to ask is it worth it.

Agree w/ Chertubler, interesting focus from RugbyWA at this stage as it's not exactly a marketing effort to recruit more players
Or is it because RWA have to pay ARU team fees by a certain date ...

    O.K. I'll bite:

So - what's the solution guys? How do you try to help clubs recoup lost revenue? How do you account for players playing the sport they love, getting freebies and when injured make a claim when they haven't paid a cent towards the premium. At least give the hardworking guys at RugbyWA some credit for trying to do something to fix the problem!!

How about some constructive, positive ideas.

When are some clubs going to look internally and ask of themselves what Can they do for their club and their members - not always blame the woes 100% on RugbyWA?

To be honest this is a great initiative , there is no competitive sport these days that isn't user pays and if people are not paying their membership subscriptions it reflects poorly on them as an individual .

not sure why a positive step has been turned into a rugbywa bashing forum . maybe some people just need an excuse to complain.

And what colour is the sky on your planet ...

The individuals that spend a few bucks on beers every Sat & absolutely none on fees won't really care about reflection, or subscribe to RWA twitter. So, why do RWA get involved in what is essentially a club issue as their track record on club assistence isn't exactly glowing ...

From the clubs I know about & for the players that have to pay fees & are not funded, the programs of regular payments are the most successful ... & often a refusal at the bar works

RWA got involved because Clubs were asking for help to get some parasites to cough up.

I don't know which clubs you know about Kev but from my travelling I have only heard positive feedback about this initiative. If you read the e-mail you will see RWA are giving players a number of rounds to pay up, so instalments is the way to go. I am sure you too would see many players who cry poor, only too happy to buy a round or two of drinks and spirits every weekend at some pub or club.
