The good thing to point out on this forum is that my understanding is that the Neddies members making this happen, spoke to both Wanneroo and Joondalup clubs many months ago.
No Hansie, you understand wrong. Neither club was approached or spoken with and in fact Nedlands was most unhappy when their grubby little secret leaked out around the time of last year's finals if I remember correctly - on this very website I do believe.

There was no contact. And let's face it if there was does anyone really think they would say 'Hey. Come on in. Take who you want'. Sorry but it was all very underhand and only came out because it was posted here last year.

Bally made no secret of his intentions and contacted Wests as well.No one at our club had any problem with it at all.If Bally and other suspicious looking ex Neddies players want to hang around public toilets that's their business

Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.

The move to establish a second junior training ground at James Cook Reserve has primarily been driven by approaches from current and former Nedlands players living in the northern suburbs who cannot make it to The Foreshore to take their sons and daughters to junior trainings.
I just wonder how many current and former Nedlands players who can't make it to the Foreshore ARE living in the "northern suburbs". Not enough to make a team at every age level Nedlands claim they will be training I would guess. I wonder where the others will come from?

It's junior rugby people, it can only be a good thing if it means parents don't have to travel as far to take their kids to trainings, some kids might get more game time with more teams in the competition etc it is mainly because the club Nedlands is associated to it that is concerning most. Those that know Bally know he is only doing this for the growth of junior rugby, not some secret plan to make Nedlands an even stronger club in seniors. Get a grip!!

I posted this a couple of years ago that one of RugbyWAs (sorry cant be bothered looking for the post) initiatives heading into the future was to establish a broader presence in the metro and surrounding areas by starting new clubs in the suburbs where there is no rugby at the current time. Nedlands has come to the table and has done something pro active and off they're own back to fill a gap in the rugby net, so good luck Nedlands. The presence of a junior club in the area will provide rugby as an option to god knows how many kids who haven't had it before due to whatever reason. Opposing the growth of the game because of insular and narcissitic (spellcheck?) primitive viewpoints is just plain wrong and unhelpful.
Growing the game is the most important initiative we can all contribute to. Get on board or get out of the way!!

Nothing positive about this hansie and I can assure you that yes Nedlands have been in contact with Wanneroo but only after it was leaked last year that Nedlands is trying to pull a quick one with a training facility at Padbury. The then president of the Juniors wrote a letter the the WAJRU president Martin Becker to question this and to also express our disapproval of this. Then and only then and after it went public here on TWF did Nedlands contact Wanneroo Juniors. and by the way that was after it was denied by Nedlands.

The Letter that came out in December was not a letter requesting RugbyWA to support or help Nedlands to get this of the ground the letter as phantom states a "Nedlands will do this" and in many peoples eyes a deceleration of war from Nedlands.
How much shit will Wanneroo be in if we declare that we will be forming an training facility (academy as it was called by Nedlands) in the city or somewhere or more North from Wanneroo or closer to rockingham where around 20 of our current players come from to accommodate these players that comes from afar.

You can imagine what is gonna happen if all clubs left right and center is allowed to form training centers away from their clubs. It will be a shit show.....

By ther way it is a great idea from Nedlands but only for Nedlands it is a bad Idea for any other club North of the river for that matter

Pieter it has been posted elsewhere that between Joondalup and yourselves you have 25 percent of the junior base.Is losing 15 or 20 players whose parent's are Neddies stalwarts really going to have that much of an impact on you guy's.Heard a few season's back you guy's had that many players you were turning them away.

Mate Like I said above If Nedlands came and said lets work something out then it would have been a different story, But when confronted last year they first of all denied the whole thing then they said it is something they are considering for the future and asked for a Meeting with Wanneroo and then next minute they come out with this letter to RugbyWA saying they will do this ... without any further consultation of Joondalup Wanneroo or RugbyWA/WAJRU for that matter. The fact is all other clubs will consult RugbyWA before doing anything but then there is Nedlands who think they are above us all

When West moved to your new venue you did it with the blessing and support of all involved because you went through the right channels never in any of your action did you have the attitude of you will do this come hell or high water..

Most people agree there was a huge geographical gap between Joondalup/Wanneroo & Wests. So does it matter if it's Neddies or new start up that fills the gap? I don't think either JB or Wanneroo will lose many juniors (maybe a couple) but it will be interesting to see how far East or North of Hillarys Neddies advertise their registration day and also if the said rego day is held a week or two earlier than everyone else. It might be the first time anyone is interested in U6 numbers.

Some very insular and blinkered views in regards to this topic, any grassroots expansion is a positive thing regardless as to whether other clubs perceive this as a potential threat to their own catchment area. It actually appears rather petty some of the comments coming from Waneroo supporters, is this really going to be of a massive detriment to your club?

For the good of the game clubs will relocate and expand into areas, Ive had a quick look and the new proposed junior ground location is 10km from Waneroo's, that is a substantial distance and represents a massive catchment area. Half of the Queensland Premier Grade competition have clubs within 12km of each other and in the past 10 years they have all won the Premier Grade competition at least once.

Waneroo should take this added competition as a sign they also need to pick up their game, heck if they were smart they would have established a subsidary juniors training ground in this area before Nedlands.. Now they need to come up with more proactive approaches to retain the players they have recruited and find new areas to recruit more.

Interesting point there. I'm told that when Wanneroo started to help set up the "North's" club (by helping them set up a committee etc) Joondalup jumped up and down demanding that the WAJRU get them to pull out because they were encroaching into their area. And guess what WAJURU did. Well wanneroo are not allowed to help them any more. Double standards? precedent set?
