He's always done that though. For me, it says as much about his ego and his desire to advance his "brand", not to mention increase his crowd-pulling worth for his own contract negotiation purposes, as it does about his commitment to a club or its fans. He was exactly the same at the Force but then turned out to be a little shit come contract negotiation time & showed no loyalty whatsoever to all the 'adoring fans' he'd ingratiated himself with.

Quade Cooper is the same in terms of the huge amount of time he spends interacting with fans, but he seems to be much more genuine in that he doesn't appear to be trying to advance himself and his "brand" by doing it and is loyal to those fans come contract re-negotiation time.

    Just my take on things.

    Not disagreeing totally because that's a good point. but;
I'd want to hope that his contract negotiations when he was here were the result of his stupid management.

His contract with the rebels was a last minute thing because he had no other option after the force pulled out. Same with his L.I contract, he needed that or he'd be twiddling his thumbs at home right now.

If he comes back to Australia it will be interesting to see how the negotiations are done this time. You'd want to hope that he and his management have learnt a tiny bit about what not to do this time.

So would I, but let's look at a little history
He left the Force under the 'brand' fiasco....not a good look at all
after signing with the Rebels in desperation, since nobody else was interested (or able to) in giving him a contract, does he knuckle down and make people love him?
Nope, he acts like a pretentious ass and gets the ARU to sack him when (in reality) he hasn't done anything much wrong
He enters negotiations with the Force, but the Force close the door on him (for the second contracting period in a row) and he goes overseas
Somebody in his management calls Toulon and starts to negotiate (that much is obvious billionnaires aren't dumb enough to announce an imminent signing with no contact whatsoever
He comes out immediately and gives the forks to france, saying he's returning to Australia to play for the Wallabies
London Irish want him, but probably wont get him until he's exhausted the globe looking for a couple farthings more!

Not really except the Force didn't close the door. He told them he was off to London Irish.

Didn't the force tell him he should go see of the grass was greener before coming back? - pardon my paraphrasing

And no I don't think so gigs.

I do think that if the media wasn't out for blood he'd still be here though. Because you're right. He didn't actually do much wrong.

    No.
He told them he was off so they wished him well, said they supported him in what ever he thought was best blah blah blah...to paraphrase.
Unlike RG and VR who told him bugger off and shut the door on the way out they have left their options open by saying the right things.

Useful cover for Alcock, Hodgo or MMM.
His playing style is similar to that of Chris Alcock.

Maybe I made a little more of the "James needs to go away and seriously consider whether he wants to sign this contract" than there was in the original message, but I heard it as a definite, sign this one or you can go elsewhere.

We've had great loosies for pretty much our entire history. Once Pocock started earning regular game time, they seemed to grow on trees.

Different story with the backline, which has been a real exercise of beating our head against a brick wall. It makes it logical for the management to get so many South Africans over, since the default and traditional style over there is more focused on the pack.
