England makes fussy food demands for Ashes series against Australia

    http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/cri...-1226755642039

IF you thought your three-year-old was fussy, check out the English cricket team's 82-page list of dietary demands for the upcoming Ashes series.

Almost 200 items are included in astonishing detail in the English and Wales Cricket Board document, which also sets rules for when and where they want the food and drinks provided.

In a booklet understatedly titled "Test Catering Requirements", England insists its players be served up to eight salads, four hot meal choices, three side dishes and two desserts.

    And that's just for lunch.

Gone are the days of simple egg sandwiches, tea and coffee.

Instead the Poms will spend every one of their lunch breaks dining on meals including soups, salads, hot options, finger food, juices and smoothies, with the menu almost completely different for each day of each Test match.

In a list to rival anything on MasterChef, among the list of foods that must be provided for lunch on day one of every Test are:

    - Avocado, mango and dill salad with avocado dressing

    - Quinoa, cranberry and feta salad

    - Mung bean curry with spinach

    - Roasted sweet potato wedges with Szechuan seasoning

    - Honey soy and roasted chicken breasts with pak choi and ginger

    And don't keep them waiting.

Tea break dishes and post-match cuisine must be ready and waiting in their dressing room 20 minutes before the close of play.

The post-match fare on day one of the Tests includes:

    - Almond and cinnamon flapjacks

    - Roasted vegetable and halloumi kebabs with red pepper dip

    - Moroccan spiced griddled chicken fillets with lime and coriander mayonnaise

    - Ginger and garlic prawn kebabs with garlic mayonnaise

The document also includes a 70-page recipe book with instructions on how to prepare each of the items.

It includes a warning that "the quantities must be followed, along with the ingredients listings".

"If availability is an issue please do not use an alternative or omit from the recipe," the recipe instructions state.

"For any meat used in sandwich fillings please do not use processed meats, only freshly cooked meats will suffice."

So they've ordered "catering" to be delivered at a "set time" that conforms to a list of "dietary requirements" for the players. The outrage!
