FORCE LEND A HELPING HAND ON MCHAPPY DAY

    WESTERN FORCE MEDIA RELEASE
    Thursday, 7 November 2013

The Western Force will descend on McDonald’s stores across Perth for McHappy Day this Saturday, 9 November to help raise much needed funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

Twenty Western Force players will head to McDonald’s stores across Perth to flip burgers and man the counters and drive-thrus between 11am and 12pm on Saturday.

RMHC Perth has partnered with the Western Force for the past five years as the club’s aligned charity and the team continues to support the great cause through McHappy Day, Make-a-Meal nights, the children’s Christmas party and other fundraising efforts.

Western Force outside back, Patrick Dellit, is an ambassador for McHappy Day and encourages all Force supporters in the ‘Sea of Blue’ to head to their local McDonald’s store on Saturday with $2 from every Big Mac sold and $1 for every Helping Hand purchased going straight to the charity.

“The Western Force has been proud supporters of Ronald McDonald House Perth since 2009 so we’re all really looking forward to getting out there on Saturday and raising money for the sick kids and their families across Australia,” he said.

“The players will be helping out in the store and signing autographs for everyone that comes in so make sure you get down to your nearest store for a Big Mac and say hello to the boys.

“I’m so proud to be an ambassador for this fantastic charity and I’ll be visiting McDonald’s stores across Perth throughout the day to help raise as much money as we can.”

This year, McHappy Day aims to raise $3.4 million, so that RMHC can continue to provide much needed programs and services for seriously ill children and their families.

The 14 Houses across Australia currently provide more than 85,000 families with a home-away-from-home while their child undergoes treatment for a serious illness at a nearby hospital.

Over the last 30 years RMHC has helped more than 100,000 families, and over the next few years, RMHC is aiming to build or extend five Houses, as well as opening 17 more Family Rooms, and extending the Learning Program to help more children catch up on their schooling.

Ronald McDonald House Perth will be moving to a new facility next to the new children’s hospital in 2015 with a much greater capacity to accommodate the vast number of families that require assistance while their child undergoes medical treatment.

Donations will be collected at more than 870 McDonald’s restaurants across Australia. If you can’t make it to McDonald’s on McHappy Day, donations can also be made via www.mchappyday.com.au.

According to t'internet, Van Wyk is a young prop, another one from Western Province.

The Joondalup and Innaloo McD's are popular Saffa hang-outs, are they?

I suspect that some of our forwards could be more prone to eating the burgers than serving them

    Ecky's question of the day:

Will Sias speak Afrikaans all day, or will he break into English at some point?
