It would on one hand be easy for the force to reject him outright based on what happened two years ago.

Sounds like we're being sensible and giving him an opportunity to sort himself out and return to his best.

I doubt they will make the same mistake in guaranteed position (Mitchell at 15) or pay over the top price for him so bring it on.

"Higginbotham says O'Connor had to go"

The bit about the team fit is what bothers me most. Having the right team ethic and building a strong team culture are the two things that Foley et al have been unequivocal about this season (Alfie Mafi anyone?) I have yet to see evidence that JOC is cut from that sort of cloth.

But, as others here have said, this is a watershed moment for JOC and maybe coming back here is exactly what he needs at this point in his career and his life?

3 year deal sign long or not at all. No KPI's for the club only for the player

I know, sad isn't it? Look where this franchise has got itself. I can't imagine, back in 2005, what those people who stood on Subiaco Oval at the "Super 12 for Perth" Rally would think if they had the benefit of hindsight.

    Anyway, I'm digressing, sorry folks...

    no I haven't forgotten James!!!

"Wallabies star youngster James O'Connor says the lure of playing alongside Stirling Mortlock, Kurtley Beale and Danny Cipriani persuaded him to join the Melbourne Rebels.

The utility back, who turns 21 next week, recently signed a two-year deal with Super Rugby's wooden spooners.

He said the chance to learn from rugby league great Andrew Johns, a coaching consultant with the Rebels, also contributed.

"Andrew was one of the best rugby league players going around and he brought so many different things to rugby league," O'Connor told Melbourne's SEN radio on Tuesday.

"So the thought of that and playing with an established backline.

"You've got Stirling Motlock outside of me, Kurtley Beale at the back, who's been on fire of late and Danny Cipriani inside, who's a world-class 10.

"I'm going to be playing the position I want to develop as an international player ... it's going to be a pretty unstoppable side, I think."

Wallabies' teammate Beale will leave the NSW Waratahs for the Rebels in 2012.

O'Connor also said he decided to quit the Western Force, after they backtracked on meeting certain conditions he had requested to improve the code in Western Australia, having initially agreed to them.

"There were things that were actually agreed on and then when it came down to the last minute got lost in translation, I guess," he said.

"I believe it wasn't anything unfair (I asked for), the fact that they agreed to them sort of says it all.

"It was all to do with rugby and developing rugby in Perth and keeping the best players."

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.

I have 100% trust in Michael Foley and I believe he will do what ever is in the best interests of the EWF. If he signs JOC because he believes that coming across to the Force will make us a better side and help us make finals then great.

From what I have observed of Michael Foley he is a very good man manager and has fantastic people skills he may well be the man to unlock the undoubted talent that JOC has.

If he doesn't come to the Force it will be a great loss to Australian Rugby but such is life no one player is bigger than the game

$1 a week wages and $10,000 bonus for each try scored, $4000 for each try he makes (Not is just a part of).

In essence, perform and be rich, or be lazy and be poor.

I don't think the issue is being lazy, I believe he would do his best every time he played. The issue is attitude. It must be a real slap in the face for him to find he is unwanted. This may be the wake up call he needs to get his career back on track.
