    Optus vs Virgin Mobile

    Afternoon Ladies and Gents

As I start to near the end of my Vodafone contract I am starting to look at the other companies as Vodafone should be burned to the ground and the earth that it stood on should be salted.

Now I know that Virgin uses the Optus network but I was wondering if there was any difference between the two companies in terms of data speeds, drop outs etc

I'm not asking about Telstra (although they're in the running)

I was just comparing the two I asked about and there are price differences so I was wondering if there were differences between the two services

My work phone is on iinet (Optus) and no real troubles (some pausing in internet every now and then). Just choose on price and data value, according to your particular use.

You'd have to think that Optus, as the owner of the towers, would priorities their own traffic, but I haven't heard much about actual differences.

The usual discussion is between Optus (network) and Telstra, telstra wins hands down when coverage is an issue, as soon as coverage is out of the equation, Optus wins.

I'm with Optus and haven't had any problems with them. I have a cap plan or something costs me under $70/month. Have never gone over even though I'm always using the 3G whatever and don't have a home phone do this is my only means of communication really. I've probably been with them 6 years or so, I usually put more money on to my account than required just incase I run into any problems and can't pay my bill in any given month, so eventually I had like $500 excess on my account, so I just called them up and asked them to give me back $400, two days later got a check in the mail! It was like free money! :p My sister is with Virgin, but for some reason I manage her account (no idea how that happened!) they are good and she is always getting special discounts, like $5 of the bill for 6 months and stuff like that. But they seem to have issues with measuring the data usage and often she gets text messages saying she is reaching her agreed limit even though it's literally a week in to the new billing period...

I have been with TPG for a while (Optus network) and they are cheap and service great. would definitely recommend for mobile and broadband.
