Some people know when to take the weekend off, I see too. Senior 5ths are not scheduled to kick-off untill 5:15pm this week. They'd have had to drag him out of the bar by then.

The rugby league State of Origin streaker has been sentenced to three months' jail.

New Zealander Wati Holmwood ran onto the field wearing nothing but joggers during the final minutes of the Origin decider in July.

He pleaded guilty to entering a playing field without authorisation and wilful and obscene exposure in a public place.

Magistrate Christopher Longley on Thursday sentenced him to three months' jail for two good behaviour bond breaches.

He's also been fined $2000 for baring all in front of 83,000 spectators who'd turned out to watch the NSW-Queensland clash.

Wearing a maroon jacket, Holmwood was expressionless as sheriffs led him from the court room.

The 33-year-old had been slated for sentencing last week but never showed.

His lawyer, Will Tuckey, had pushed for a non-custodial or suspended sentence.

But the magistrate said he considered jail the only appropriate option for the serial streaker, who got his kit off in 2011 at a Warriors vs Tigers match at Leichhardt in Sydney's inner west.

"In the circumstances of totality, bearing in mind the breach of bond as well as the offence that constituted the breach of bond, I do come to that conclusion," Mr Longley told Burwood Local Court.

Holmwood could have been slapped with a maximum jail term of 18 months.

The court heard the offender was of "limited" intelligence and his latest public nude run had damaged his already-strained relations with family.

"This is a gentleman with complicated needs, he's had a great deal of media attention, he's been publicly humiliated," Mr Tuckey said.

The lawyer, who indicated he would appeal the sentence, said the Origin streaking was a victimless crime viewed by many as a "comic" incident.

"It would be hard to find a person who was particularly offended on that night," he said.

"There's no evidence of anyone being traumatised by the action and there's no evidence of any ongoing harm."

Holmwood is expected to apply for bail once his appeal is lodged.
