oh look i dont disagree with unions. they play a great part for their members, and have a role to play in negotiating and the maintenance of conditions.
i think it's either the AMU or the CFMEU that sports the slogan "if you dont fight, you've already lost" which is very accurate.

as well as "skilled labour isnt cheap, cheap labour isnt skilled" is also accurate. everyone who deserves (i.e skilled/qualified) to be there should be paid the same amount.
most people in the crew have gone soft is all.

You missed the point, I think, jono. I wasn't talking about my area (these days). I was referring to the fact that locomotive drivers in the Pilbara have not been unionised for the past 20-odd years so they would not be in the equation. A small number may be union members but they are all on individual contracts. They are still highly paid because there is a shortage of them and heavy haul operators take quite a bit of training. But relatively not as well paid as when they were on Union Agreements.
