Anyone know an accountant who could get a job at the Waratahs or the reds?

Be the only way anyone of us mere mortals will ever know how they can amass the talent they have done whilst working within the same financial restraints that govern all of the Australian Confrences

Over the years the Waratahs situation has perplexed me the most.

New rugby league converts? Waratahs aquire Rogers and Tuqiri. Sailor digruntled at the Reds, goes to the Tahs aswell.

Harrison and Vickerman unhappy with Nucifora? Tahs can afford them.

Promising new Reds scrum-half? Tahs sign Josh Valentine.

Firepower fallout?! Drew Mitchell off to the Waratahs.

Wallaby fly-half prospect? Berrick Barnes to Sydney.

Wallaby back leaves Brumbies! Ashley-Cooper goes to Waratahs.

Star rugby league prodigy leaves AFL?! Israel signs with Waratahs!

Okay, okay, I'm looking like a conspiracy theorist, but I can't fathom the big name players who seem to move to Sydney most of the time. Any of the above players over the years could have come here and contributed to a developing province; if they could fit into the Waratahs finances what are we doing that they don't fit into ours? (yes I know Valentine and Mitchell did come here)

Also, why isn't Queensland, as a comparable State union, able to sign up star players from other States with such abandon?

Honestly I'm a bit surprised that George Smith and Matt Giteau didn't come back and play for the Tahs aswell!

Even if they are rorting the system with green fees, it still doesn't make sense.
Coincidentally if love to know if izzy was on the max allowable by the tahs. Or if he is on something less and the ARU is topping it all up.
The %age of tahs v ARU v third party balance would be interesting

Pretty sure there is no max allowable under the salary cap these days

You would think there would be an ARU top up given

Why the Western Force Salary Cap is in the toilet?

    here is what I think.......

Lets say outside back Gary Brown (this is a made up name and not intended to offend Gary or Mr and Mrs Brown - or the Brown Kiddies) he has played for an Eastern States Club last 3 years, He is on the up and up. Played one game off the bench for the Wallabies last season and is in the mix to get picked this season. He is popular on social media and the fan girls love him.

Gary grew up in the Country town of Kickatinalong (again made up no offence yadda yadda yadda). Gary's Dad, Rob, is a Farmer and the local Lawyer Steve is his manager.

Gary has always wanted to play for the Reds. So Steve and Rob - make an approach to the Reds saying that Gary will play for the Reds for the next 2 seasons for $300,000. He really likes the team song.

Gary then gets a message that the Tahs are interested. Steve and Rob and Gary would rather play for the Reds - so they tell the Tahs that $350,000 for the next 2 seasons.

Brumbies make some movements. - The send a similar message - 350k x 2 season.

The Rebels - Gary doesn't like them at all. Says thanks but no thanks.

The Force - they all sit down and talk about this - they hear that Force have deep pockets.

So they Work out the plus 20 plus 20 rule. 350,000 plus 20% plus 20% so Gary is willing to sign to the Force for 350,000 plus 70,000 because its not the Reds or the Tahs and plus 70,000 because he is moving so far away from his mum.

And that my friends is how the Force get screwed on a regular basis.

chibi after all those esteemed players how could you forget Rocky!

And lets not mention Hooper, who no doubt took a massive pay cut to join the Tahs after cracking the Wallabies while playing for the Brumbies

Ha ha! I can re-edit that if you like! The Hooper move is one of the most perplexing things to have ever perplexed me.

I would not find it surprising if the Waratah players just happened to get rather large Wallaby top ups by comparison to most (after all they are inherently entitled to play for the Wallabies) leaving NSW free to lower their Super Rugby contract value.

Watched the Sharks training this morning. They looked pretty relaxed and confident.

That has worked for us in the past, no reason why the trend shouldn't continue.

(ps. I'm wondering whether it'd be poor form to take a cricket bat to Jannie DuPlessis' legs......comments?

Sorry mate, the cooks here seem to be OK, haven't had botulism yet. The most likely thing to take them down in this place is obesity and Type 2 Diabetes, both of which are unlikely to strike before Friday!
