While people are in the thread - what's the offside law at a quick throw? As per prior the ball going into touch, not possible to be offside, or something else?
If a player is in front of a kicker and advances to prevent the quick throw being taken, then that player is offside. This is a new law this year.

    Kalamunda V Wests.

Wests were definitely up for this one with enthusiasm being the main reason for the win. Wests were just hungrier and sharper for long periods and were able to take advantage of a Kalamunda side lacking the work rate to match them. Wests were also able to take advantage of the wind in the 1st half with Kalamunda trying to play ball in hand in reply to Wests kicking but lacked the work rate to pull it off. With Kalamunda being flat early, Wests were able to establish a 27 - 3 lead by half time. By this point Kalamunda had to look to the bench with Razor, Gray and halfback Daniel able to restore some structure and direction to the team to salvage some respect in winning the 2nd half 14 - 13. This game gave Kalamunda good insight into what's needed week in week out to step up to the top rungs of the ladder, with accuracy and physicality needing to improve aswell as shifting tempo when in possession.
Lowlight was a serious looking ankle injury to Brad Lacey and a broken arm to Nicks.

    Re - Tuatara-Morrison.
Didn't notice he was even playing until late in the 2nd half. Could be a bust recruit for the Force. Todays performance won't earn higher honours.

Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.

the grass was very cushioning, lines were managed well for this opening match... let's see how long that continues. Wests dominated the whole match, they lost their structure after their superb start and allowed Kala to score some consolation points right at the end of the match. Kalamunda didn't look very structured after two phases, and definitely didn't play as a team.

The fields were marked within the laws regarding pitch size. There were no other lines on the grounds.
The markings at the old grounds never bothered me either.
The removal of the goal posts after the games was one i hadn't seen in a while.
Thanks for the free spag bog after the game. Good nosh.
The new facilities are fine, changerooms are large enough etc, it's just you'll hope the volunteers keep up their workload with the posts and the coolroom being separate from the clubhouse. Also i hope the council doesn't go silly with parking infringements regarding kerb parking. The main carpark only fits 30 or 40 cars.

Good article if you ignore the maths error and the error about Soaks being last years runner-up.

Our starting 9 spent half the game ignoring the 10 which led to the structure breakdown. It was better when the reserve 9 came on.
Still, the whole performance was flat, Wests fast start emphasised it. The desire in defence wasn't there, attack was lazy, appetite for the contest was lacking. Captain broke his arm and will be out 8-10 weeks.
The game came at the right time, it showed us what is required to compete with the top sides.
