Yeah, the Bombers marketing pitch of "Whatever it takes" isn't looking too clever now.

It's now being reported that the AFL and the NRL are very much in the frame. The 2 NRL clubs being mentioned are Manly & Penrith. Both of which employed the same dude as Essendon. No surprise there.
Reports are also about that the 4 cases prosecuted by the ARU involved players from Subbies.

One question I'd ask is how the Bombers got a heads up 48 hours before anyone else. The looks on their faces did not look promising.

the best thing about it is that it is taken out of the codes hands as WADA and ASADA will be the ones enforcing the bans so no chance of clubs and sports sweeping it under the carpet.

Saw John Fahey today. Said that players who fess up and cooperate (read spill the beans) can possibly have the mandatory 2 years to 6 months.

What ever happens this years competitions are going to be disrupted very big time, I reckon.

Bet the Ranga is sort of happy for the diversion. Abbott will probably say it's her fault tho

The purist in me would love to think that Rugby is clean as a whistle but there is no way that any sport can be 100% clean.

ON a side issue...........

I would love to see another competition after the Olympics every 4 years.

The Olympics should be clean and represent what is pure and good in the world.

2 weeks later the "Special Olympics" is what it is and should be highlighted as the great spectacle it is.

Here is where I go crazy........ I would like to see a "DRUG" Olympics - no hiding it - embrace it - lets see how Fast, High and Far a athlete can go with the aid of modern medicine. If the playing field is level, and everyone is on the gear - I think it would be a spectacle too.

Crazy is right, mate. Apart from the ethical black hole, the cheats would still enter the "clean" olympics and would be every bit as hard to catch as they are now.

But playing along with your fantasy; there would be no level playing field. Just as there was not in all the dirty tours, footy matches, past olympiads etc. Not every athlete gets an equal advantage from these substances. Some don't respond at all.

It's really not that crazy, we like to be entertained. We have gone to concerts and bought the music of many drugged up performers and never cared as long as the show was good. We paid to watch comedians who were very funny drugged up, John Belushi come to mind. It wouldn't surprise me if Coach popped a few pills during a late night working on TWF.

AFL and their Bosses will find away to get around this and I very much doubt Essendon or any one else will get a 2 year ban. The AFL will no doubt say that the Bombers came forward before it was revealed so they are the good boys for bringing it to the publics attention.
