Yeah he's a genuine 10.2 runner for the 100m. But 7s is very different to 15s. He would be all over the place, he only took up rugby a few years ago.

We had one like it in our initial years, but it didn't work out quite so simple as speed alone...

he seems to have a bit of a step. Also the way he goes around the corner is like a 400m runner very smooth no just fast down the line.

I think it was Bob Dwyer who said, give me someone with speed and I'll teach him how to catch and Pass. Agreed in 7's there is a bit more room, but can you imagine a kick pass from a lineout or scrum set near touch.. geez, instead of No. 10 floating a kick across field, he can punt it deep and this bloke will still catch it on the full.

Dwyers philosophy was probably true 20 years ago, but the game has changed since then. England had Tom Vardnell a 10.8 runner, very quick, but couldn't tackle, catch or pass so didn't last long in the England setup. Playing top level rugby, you need to be all singing all dancing, no one trick ponies.

Saying that Carlin Isles is an ex college football player (running back) so will be able to catch, step etc Would be interesting to see how he would go. He's a lot quicker than anyone else around, so perhaps that would make up for any possible weaknesses. Most S15 wingers are of a similar speed, some slighter quicker than others, but he is a lot, lot quicker. Scary! However as he's new to rugby, any opposition would be doing their utmost to discover any weaknesses and when found, exploit to the max.

I can see a rain of high bombs dropping on him, and a herd of behemoths rumbling towards his line

12 weeks ago I think they say in the commentary, or is it old footage?
One of the Force's biggest issues is not leaving enough room for the Winger to do his thing and getting bundled into touch.
You would have to commit to playing a narrower backline to allow him the step or two to get behind his opposite number, then it would be shut the gate against all but the quickest Fullbacks.
He has an instinctive fend and did ok with the one tackle shown, at least it wasn't one arm around the throat like some Wallaby incumbents.
If a hole opened up in the roster I would give him a one year chance.

Burgs think the footage is from this year.

That second try he scored was phenomenal. Blistering quick! The pommes have got a guy called Christian Wade, another very quick guy. The 3rd try really shows off his pace.

I'll bow to Alison's verdict, she's the wing specialist around here, anyone remember "Chariots" Offiah?.

Dwain Chambers had a crack at League, but the boy didn't do much.

No but I remember David Smith who would top Alisons wing wish list.
