How Much Is Cooper Worth to The ARU?

QC is now damaged goods. Will he play for the Wallabies again? Do they want him? Do the public, Do his team mates? If the ARU do top up his Reds deal one assumes that they expect him to play but is he good enough just look how much better they have looked without him.
By his own admission he is a confidence player and he's lost it. The step up from Super rugby to Test has exposed him. Put him under pressure and he panics and not only in Test's. All Super teams should and could learn by watching how the AB's put him under pressure at the WC.
The only place he is going to feel confident is in QL, as they seem to think the sun shines out of his orifice. I'm fairly sure after the things that were"mistakenly" said he will not get a good reception at any other Aussie ground. Were I don't hold with booing the opposition a big HISS when ever he touches the ball will soon get him chucking it over his shoulder.
Cooper should not get a top up. If they are so keen to keep him pay him per match and by result i.e. how many tales made, passes completed, successful kicks etc.

    Thought I would re-post this from G&G Rugby -

Wallabies since Cooper made his debut (Nov. 2008)
    Cooper playing: Played 38, Won 26 (68%)
    Not Playing: Played 17, Won 6 (35%)

Interesting stats - they tell quite a story. Quade has made some poor decisions recently. However, if he is contrite and wanting to mend bridges (as the good mail suggests), then these statistics prove his worth.

Young people make mistakes, but they deserve another chance. I would hate to see his enormous talent lost from the game.

Kurtley has been pretty good recently but he cannot produce the brilliance of Quade at flyhalf. Kurtley does produce that brilliance from fullback - he just needs to work on his catches some more.

Edit - thought I would throw this one in as well (thanks again to G&G)-

Winning record of Wallaby 10s (min. 20 games played at 10 only)
    MP Lynagh 70.76%
    SJ Larkham 70.34%
    QS Cooper 68.42%
    EJ Flatley 66.07%
    MG Ella 54.00%
    MJ Giteau 48.91%
    PF Hawthorne 40.47%

How many chances do you think he should have?

Most employers would have terminated his contract by now.

He has made two serious errors of judgment. The recent stuff and the laptop issue 3 years ago when he was ridiculously drunk. The rest of the issues were minor and the rage and indignity was confected and disingenuous.

Quade does need to step up now and most importantly, needs to be mentored properly - and get rid of his manager. He is a decent young bloke deep down, but not the sharpest tool in the shed.

All I see is lies and damn lies - it would be interesting to look at those stats against the All Blacks only, I think this would give a better indication of his 'worth' ...

Not sure which ones Quade was in, but our record against the all blacks since he joined is (Nov 2008 - 2012):

    Played: 15
    Won: 2
    Lost: 12
    Draw: 1

Compare that to the 4 years before he joined (2004 - 2008):

    player: 12
    Won: 10
    Lost: 2
    Draw: 0

That's pretty damning against him I'd say!

Apples and oranges. Let's look at the strength of the forward packs across this time. For all the criticism of his performance at RWC last year, people are quick to forget that our forward pack was utter poo.

Pretty hard to create backline moves when your forwards are wearing roller skates.

Haven't stats been used by Tahs coaches since the beginning of time to prove despite bad results stat wise they are always the better team?

    Means nothing.

My comment was more against the nature of stats than Cooper - you started it

This is the most telling stat posted on this thread. The greatest 10 to ever play the game...

In relation to Cooper, the MINIMUM he has to do to get called up is put in a consistent winning performance with the Reds, playing 10 offensively AND defensively, for a whole season. If he cant or wont tackle in his position, then he is never selected again. I don't think he makes the cut for B&IL, it would be an insult to all and sundry.

Quade needs a home where the supporters are knowledgable, understanding and forgiving - look to a franschise that exhibts all these traits - welcome to the West Quade!
