    How do you pick one?

With potentially 5 fly halves in next years squad who would you have as your 1-5?
    1 Godwin - the future
2 Seymour - needs to develop a more attacking mindset
    3 2 Dads - ole reliable
4 Ebersohn - not sure about this signing.
5 Harvey - The RAC, there if the rest break down.

    What do you think?

Ebersohn's playing 10 for the Cheetahs in the Currie cup at the moment. So it will give us all a good look at him.

If form & fitness are all good then I think you have to go with Ebersohn first up & use KG like we did against Canterbury off the bench as a young impact player looking to make a name for himself... which he is.

If Seymour hasn't got a attacking mindset at this stage of his career then I don't think he ever will.

Seem to remeber Norton-Knightmare has a bit of a cannon on him.

Nice guy that he is, Harv's should enjoy his last year of S15!

    Well,
Harvey is not a Fly half.
SNK failed abysmally at Cardiff thus not a fly half. Probably a very good full back (as long as Lote isn't around).
That leaves numbers 4 and 2.
    Any help?

Ebersohn to start the season (a proven S15 #10), provide Godwin some useful minutes off the bench and ease him into the big time, rather than throwing him into the deep end all at once. Perhaps by the second half of the season he'll earn the starting spot. He's obviously the long-term solution, but why ruin him by chucking him in, perhaps before he's ready. Let him slowly earn it.

Having watched Ebershon in some of the earlier S15 matches this season I think he has the talent.
Lets hope he and Goodwin can be that factor we have been looking for!

if you wanted to start both Sais and Kyle you could play Sais @ 10 and Kyle @ 12

    I'm with GAFFA.
I'd love to see a couple of playmakers in the backline.
    Sais 10
    Goodwin 12
    Harvey or 2Dads 15 and
Seymour on the bench with whoever isn't playing 15
Cullet in at 13 and we already have some good wings.
It's a fairly exciting backline if they all learn to pass the ball, tackle and catch

They should already know how to tackle/catch/pass by the time they reach this level!

Back the local boy and buy a quality world class 12 to guide him through

    If you're good enough, you're old enough........exhibit A JOC

Cooper went from schoolboys to running the Reds backline with some old heads at 12 to ease him in

I can't stand namby pamby sh1t......ease him in, he gets frustrated with lack of opportunity and farks off to Europe.

    Back the local boy

    back the local talent

Until this organisation develops a core nucleus of home grown talent, it will be a gutless, soul less retirement village for mercenaries and has-beens

No point buying second rate kiwis and saffers.

For the 5 duds they have bought, they could have got a world class 12 and played Godwin at 10. They can interchange if the heat gets too hot in the kitchen

You don't learn with your @rse getting splinters on the pine

    Dead set

Bollocks to a nucleus of home talent, we need to be generating an excess of potential talent as not all of it will make it or even necessarily want to stay. Until we have an underlying competition capable of generating talent and a development structure to take the best of it to the next level, we will struggle simply because we will not control our own future, will always be seen as the option of last resort by ES players and will always suffer from players running home at the first opportunity 'cos they miss their mum.

The ideal would be an ARC team, as there would have been a strong motivation to develop local players as the most economic option in a low cost competition. In the absence of that however, my preference would be we bite the bullet and:
    • Use the overseas players allowed us
    • Only sign contracts for locally based players, with maximum lengths based on how long they've been here
    • Where additional players are unavoidable, impose a limit of 7 additional east coast based players on 1 year playing contracts (i.e no guarantees, pay for play)
    • Require all locally based players to play locally, other than anyone actually in the Wallabies squad
    • Integrate of the EPS, academy and Gold teams into formal senior and U20 development teams, training as near professionally as possible. They should playing as teams as often as possible at as high a level as we can organise, otherwise back in clubland.
Basically, we have to stop relying on the East coast competitions. We need to make playing in WA the only way to get a Force contract, so that ES players come here to play rather than the other way 'round. We then need to find the best and give them focused development. It will mean some lean years, as there is undoubtedly a long way to go to catch up. But we might well be almost there if we had done this seven years ago instead of hoping star players would make a star team. We've gone nowhere using that approach, so the question now becomes where we want to be seven years from now.

SNK wasn't good in Europe, but a few guys have gone over there and failed. One of the reasons is the weather. You have to have a certain skillset to be able to thrive as a player in all conditions, some players are great on a hard, dry surface, but then go to pot when the clouds open up. Perhaps he's the latter?

If RG were still in charge a series of sack races at training would be used to determine who starts at 10
