I've been told that you are actually better off without a smart meter in some ways. Your old meter actually runs backwards. Whereas, for those not the original feed-in tafiff, S
ynergy pays you a little less for what you produce than what you pay them for usage. Ain't that typical. Even more typical; if they notice your usage has dropped off dramatically they reserve the right to guesstimate your bill to what you would have been up for had they installed a smart meter promptly.

are you on solar now? I couldn't image the costs of running a genny all the time.

Good idea for urban into and out of the grid, but remote, by the time you factor in replacement batteries, it is surprising how little is in it compared to a generator, especially as you have to have one anyway as back up, recharge and for welding etc.
