    Weekend results

    Rockingham 21 v Perth Bayswater 35

    Nedlands 26 v Wests Subiaco 25

    Associates 37 v Kalamunda 5

    UWA 43 v Palmyra 20

    Wanneroo 14 v Cottesloe 17

Wanneroo v Cott game got pretty entertaining in the 2nd half.

Cloete at 10 was excellent, as was the Cott #5. Mike Scott I think?.

Phoenix Battye played at 8 for Roodogs. He went well, but it seems he's not played much at 8.

Wanneroo pack is huge! (maybe why Phoenix played 8 - no room in the tight 5) They had the Cott scrum at their mercy for most of the game, especially in the 2nd half.

"super sub" KK might have made more difference if he came on a bit earlier...

Neddies Wests match looks like it might have been entertaining. And gripping.

Rocky Baysie game also looks like it might've been entertaining.

    Discuss.

neddies dominated for most of the game, however they gave away a penalty at virtually every ruck and maul.
I am obviously biased ,but I dont think westies were penalised in that department more than once in each half even though they appeared to "lose their footing" fairly regularly entering the fray
that aside it was a great game to watch with both sides running the ball from everywhere, making a great game with really good skills displayed---this is going to be a really good club season

    Westie Man

Neddies went off their feet at every ruck and were lucky they had 15 players at the end of the game they need to read the rule book, however if you let a team drive a maul 20 metres to score a try you don't deserve to win and neddies did it to us twice so no complaints

Westie Man, can you expand on neddies being off their feet - I didn't see the game but am keen to hear whether it was in general, or mainly in defence, or attack etc, whether it was the first player, or at counter ruck etc ?

Different teams get different perceptions, and this is something I've heard before about neddies...cheers

Wanneroo should have won their game but poor ball handling by the backs cost them dearly. Cott was very lucky to go home with the points

I don't wanna be seen to be blaming the ref as I've said before I thought Neddies deserved their win and at the end of the day apparently the ref has done Curry Cup games so he would have a bit nous about the breakdown than me.

Westie man, I didn't take your comment in that way. Simply keen to get an observers perspective.

It is the natural tendency of a supporter to notice what the opposition is "getting away with" and what their own team is not. It often seems one's own team is being harshly dealt with in this regard. (as highlighted by the two opposing views in this very thread!)

This is why Crusaders supporters deify Richie and the rest of the comp's supporters think he's a cheating sod. Except when he plays for the AB's, in which case the entire country loves his work, even though they despised him last week!

I imagine it's the same with Bambam, but he plays for the team I support, so it's ok.

Anyway, it seems only when watching a match with teams you don't really support that you see that both teams are getting the same treatment from the ref.

And the ref in that game has done Currie Cup before he saw the light and came to Aus, so he is quite good in the scheme of things.

Westie Man - I spoke to Ref after the game, he reckoned the tackle/ruck area was fiercely contested and it did cross his mind to reach for the pocket, but he reckoned it was our entry to the tackle that needs looking at. Why isn't PR with the Force? He was my pick for MOM.
