2nd round of interviews are now complete and were an outstanding success. Those interviewed presented some excellent ideas and development plans which impressed the heck out of those interviewing. Word on the street at the completion of interviews was that, if the coach appointment failed, at least they had a bucketful of ideas for the next year or so, and that maybe any idiot could implement them.

They are even closer to making the announcement than has ever been the case before. This, some might say, is simply because it’s four weeks later and time waits for no man. Or woman.

There was no mention of Scott Johnson in my first report, so I have now rectified that. I trust that helps sittingbison, if not anyone else.

Knowing the people in rugby circles that I know here in Perth, and hearing certain speculation in certain sections of certain media, I am very confident indeed that the announcement is very nearly, almost practically, imminent, and it will be made sooner rather than later, in the fullness of time, once all things have been thoughtfully considered.

The final announcement will receive wide acclaim from all quarters, some of it positive. What Tim Horan makes of it is anyone guess and will probably echo the sentiments of the QRU, who will have said the exact same thing just before Timmy says it. Again.

Anyway, there’s the update to keep everyone apprised of developments, in my version of untrue speculative rumours about the progress.
This is practically the only thing on here that's made me laugh today

I can detect a certain amount of truth sitting alongside that complete lack of speculation there Ecky......seems you aren't being entirely candid with us.

There were no ironic announcements prior to the Brumbies match Ecky %)

well, not from REWFHQ, there were plenty from EEE11 (moronic ones as well)

Being based over here in the UK for the last 5 years, I havent been paying as much attention to super rugby as much as I have wanted to.. mainly due to the lack of sky sports over much of the last 5 years.

However, I have been keeping a weather eye on the most recent coaching kerfuffle and I agree that Scott Johnson would be an ideal head coach for the force. His international experience puts him right up there and I think that he would bring a lot to the development table in terms of bringing our backs right up.

Our forwards pack is quite strong and just needs the backs to step up and we should be back to the early Mitchell days.

I still don't get the love for Johnson, he had one of the best teams over there in the Ospreys and underperformed with them.

FFS!Only good thing about this is the possibility of a double whammy with a new coach and Poey re-signing.

Rest assured when the new Coach isappointed there will be lots of critics and claims of wrong man and we can argue about it for the next 2 years or whatever the length of his contract.

This is about the first time we'll have that option of debating on who the coach should have been. There wasn't much of a progress when Graham was appointed.

    That's what I meant.

The lack of progress with Graham came in hindsight.
