I don't care if they are the best player ever to walk the earth - if they're here just for the money and aren't committed to the Force, us fans, and WA in general then I'd rather they stayed away. I want heart and commitment a la Sharpie. Mercenaries are blood suckers and nothing more. For that reason I am glad Genia whimped out. Brett Sheehan is playing great rugby at the moment and I hope he stays. That said, I wouldn't blame him at all if he took his boots and walked away after this fiasco.

He replied to me on Twitter last night saying he was "considering his options" Make of that what you will!!

Personally, I think the QRU knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they put out that press release. They knew Genia had not actually signed. They knew there would be a massive backlash from the party faithful once they found out he was leaving. So they put out the press release as a last gasp measure to get him to change his mind. A calculated gamble that paid off. Good luck to them. If he was able to backflip in the space of hours like that, his heart was clearly not in the west so I'm glad he stayed over there. We need hearts and minds, not money grabbers with outstretched hands!

getting back on thread %), after todays article in the Australian what about links disingenuous statements that Genia signed not for the money but for the love of his team mates, and the Reds had not offered more money!

The one person I feel most sorry for in this whole grubby and desperate affair is Brett Sheehan! Closely followed by the Reds guy who signed on Sat when he thought Genia was a man of his word (can't remember his name - Luke somebody??)
